So quick summary of what his man did/does Goes on 3 month camping trip with his GS dog Brings food and supply for 3 months AVID camper, site attack by bear Bear ruins supply and eats all food German Shepard fights bear and scared bear off Man goes hungry after 3 days Bludgeon GS to death with a rock eats dog Survives until last Wednesday after siting off in July. I don't know about you guys but c'mon theirs other ways to survive.. Poor dog saves your life and you just kill it.. I was taught when in bear country to hang your supplies from trees if you don't want bears to get into it. Camping in bear country without weapons ? The dog deserved a better master. Would not be pleasant to say the least to come to that sort of decision. However, I have to agree with other here that if one was to plan that type of trip which is not just for your daily camper, you'd think he'd have skills and the mind to bury your garbage, hang your food, etc and live off the land without having to eat 'man's best friend' and in his case, his savior. Glad he is ok but I feel more badly for the dog. I love my dogs and don't think I could ever look at them as food.
