Yes but you will probably want to do a clean install of the OS and apps to avoid any driver confliction with your new hardware.

Does your quad core fit on the new MB ? If it does and I know you got win seven  it will find and install the new drivers. If you get any conflicts you can go into the control panel/ device manager and delete any thing that's giving you problems.  I actually do what KaptCrunch says and keep 2 HD at a time I like it lots.

Markoff   after you install new OS on new drive and did all  updates  then install old drive

you can back up your files then remove or store it

other is   place back on old MB for family member to use or for Xfire with KVM switch so you can use both systems on same Keyboard,Video screen,Mouse

In new system.....if are different OS you can dual boot with boot manager  or  bios start drive order

Yes and no. If you go from AMD to Intel, yes. If you go from Intel to the i7 mobo, you might be lucky and have to re activate/ buy a new key of that OS.

I went from a s775 mother board to an other s775 motherboard. A newer Intel INF was on the motherboard(chip) and it pickup up.

I recommend to make a backup of you registry where your cd-keys are located in.

How: Start -> Type in : regedit (enter) -> right click 'Computer' and click on "Export" and make a name like a DATE and save it to somewhere else (other disk) it can be over 500Gb.

I recovered so many games after some losses.
