Per Crimson in the shoutbox:  mw2 new ftag srvr crashes at mp_atp and restarts to first map. 2 maps later it crashes again. Any admin help?

I am at a complete loss what the problem is. Zero errors I can find in the logs that might suggest what is happening. So, redoing the modff file so there are no server-side scripts. No idea if a problem is there because I have done that all the time to fix bugs in the past.

 

There are some suspects I have and will see what happens. For the time being the uav defroster will be shut down. Which is one of the suspects since it is the only significant change in the last few weeks so it can be shot down. The rest took care of minor issues that, in themselves, werent enough to cause a server to reboot. Just short CI's at worst. Unlike this one, those errors got printed out so I knew where to track them down.

 

IIf anyone recalls, was shooting at an active uavdefroster a common event when there was a problem? I have seen that happen several times here with no issues so I dont know.

I do know that when you shot down a defroster, you got the points, but it wasn't destroyed it just kept going. The server crashed often as well at the start of the game after just a few seconds, yesterday(or the day before) the server crashed like 3 times in a row within the first 2 minutes of the game

Anything happen in those three minutes, at the time of the crash, that might be something for me to look at?

Just for info, the uav defroster should be disabled so nobody can choose it as an option. Did this to narrow down the problem. If anyone still have is it in their loadout please change it.

Been playing for a while today, no crashes during that time.

 

During those initial few minutes of every match I don't recall anything special happening. To be honest some of the times the match barely started...

 

 

I did come across another bug:

 

if you die on the edge of the map (Highrise for example) and your bubble is spawned out of the map (there is no ground where it tries to spawn your bubble) you turn into a zombie.

 

You are frozen, but able to walk, not to shoot and not to be shot.

Ok from what it looked like the dead body fell off but you didnt respawn frozen. Or did you cut off part of the vid?

I didnt cut it. But yes the body did drop when I died.

 

It happened 3 times in that match by the way.

This happened to me as well. You're bubble falls off the side of the map and so you can't be defrosted and if you go spec and re auto assign you span with no weapon

The bubble is ignored for defrosting. You must get the player body. The way its supposed to work is that when the dead body comes to rest that is where you are frozen at. Deals with situations such as being killed in the air.  So in this case, did the body ever hit anything? What actually happened to you? Did you fall forever? Land at the bottom of the map?

 

Anyways, you should also be respawning frozen if you go from spec. Meant to prevent people from doing that to defrost themselves. That is a bug I thought was fixed.

If you go to spec n back you are in normal cases still frozen. In this case however (as seen in video somewhere between 1:00 and end of video, when i go to spectate and back) your bubble is nowhere to be found so your respawn at spawn, without weapons, able to walk, unable unfreeze others or pickup weapons(just like when spawning after the bugged death). But after a few seconds you are teleported to your bubble position, which is off the map.

Ok. So it looks like the first time you didnt respawn frozen on the ledge but respawned without a weapon. You jumped off a ledge but didnt die and fell forever. Strange. You should have been suicided as soon as you hit the invisible barrier on the bottom.

I DID respawn frozen, but just with no bubble, and with the ability to walk. Notice I tried to defrost a teammate. I also checked the scoreboard (that wasn't recorded in the demo file i guess) and a frozen symbol was displayed next to my name.

 

Don't worry about what happened when I jumped off the building. When you fix the problem with dying on the edge the other things will also be fixed.

It happened to 3 different people in that match. In nearly only happens in highrise because it's a map where you can easily fall off/out of the map.

 

 

Edit: in this buggy state I couldn't be shot.

 

Like I said: in this buggy state you are "frozen" BUT the bubble is nowhere to be seen(somewhere deep in the void?) and you can move.

the dropping dead and turnng to a zombie happens on certain maps I have noticed,,and not just this server.

You mean as in the above vid? I found the problem with it and it happens if the ragdoll body from a dead player falls off something and never hits anything to allow it to stop. Will require a minor bit of rewriting to fix it but all these server issues have been the priority of course.
