I've never broken a phone but my son broke his phones all the time when he was a teenager. I was beginning to think he did it just to piss me off.

Get an iPhone. That is if you want something you will keep until you break it. Oh, and it works correctly all the time. I have never had a problem with mine, and I have been using them since they first came out.  Sprint sucks, verizon slightly better. I have been with AT&T for a couple of years and they are awesome. I do get a substantial corporate discount so it's not so expensive for me. Check and see if verizon has a discount for your employer.

S7 edge is what I wanted, but I opted for the less expensive Moto G5+ - half the price.

 

I personally stay away from Apple products.

You can get the 50foot cord.. But that requires little extra attention as to get it in knots..
