Mark David Chapman should never see another "free" sunset as far as Im concerned.  John, Paul, George & Ringo changed music as we know it.  "Imagine" how much more John could have done if he would have lived.

Here's to you John...

Disrespectful I am sure but I do not miss him at all and especially not the culture he embraced.

But he served his country during this critical time in his career.

The Beatles may have defined it...but they critiqued the USA constantly...and we supported their opinion by buying their records....

All Killroy is saying that Elvis was a Patriot...Lennon lived here on a visa...never contributed. That's all.

I totally agree Mal, sorry i forgot to mention that. Elvis was a patriot and I commend his service for his country.  Lennon for all hs flaws loved America and fought to live in it. He believed in peace, something we need more of these days.

He hated the USA  so much he lived there for the last 10 years of his life, he hated war, millions of Britains bought and still buy Elvis's music, did he ever show his face over here, no, total disrespect, i'm sure if we still had the draft in Britain back then John Lennon would have served his country too.Undecided

Elvis got his tunes from the old blues artist. And so did a lot of other artists. The old blues guys got paid peanuts and didn't get much credit. Before the British Invasion what were we listening to.Paul Anka,Perry Como,Fabian,Ricky Nelson and all that kind of rinky dink music.Radio stations were controlled on what they could play.UNTIL THE BEATLES CAME.Then they could play a song that was a little longer than 2 min.you younger guys & ladies would not know of this.2-3 mins.thats it thats is all a song could be.Can't remeber for sure but when Beatles released "A Day In The Life" is when they allowed longer play time. The supposed drug reference in the line "I’d love to turn you on" resulted in the song initially being banned from broadcast.
