Are those temps under load (ie. when you are gaming) or just normal PC operation?

They can handle 110 c but just don't do it.

Inside the chip the melting point is arround 120c, almost the same as with CPU's. Clean some dust or get a custom cooler, if you hit nearly 95c. Life is short, also for devices :)

AT total idle they are around 54 *C THATS WHAT THEY ARE RIGHT NOW... And with regards dust my comp is spotless I have spent all morning stripping out every part and cleaning individually and the gpu I took all the covers off it cleaned out any trace of dust and it is still too warm as soon as I put it under load it lasts 20 min if that then the comp freezes and locks up and on occasion I get the blue screen.

I have even cut 2 holes in the top of my case and added 2 exaust fans to make sure any excess heat in the case is removed and added 2 intake fans on the front....

Following the numbers X-Ray posted above, your GPU temps are ok and should not cause your computer to lock up and blue screen.  I have with my last card, ran with higher GPU temps before putting on a different cooler.  I suspect there may be something else going on.  Did this just start happening?  What are your CPU temps like?  Does it lock up on a particular game or any game after about 20 min?  How is your power supply?  Maybe a power issue.

Hi mate Cpu temps are pretty cool and its only happening when I play BB3 I suppose it could be power I do have a new one on the way but its just doing my head in..Thats why I thought I would ask you guy's about the temps first trying one piece at a time untill I get it fixed.

P.S My cpu is kept cool with a COOL IT all in one water block thats why I am not concerned about that.

I don't have BF3 myself so I can't say if is a graphics load issue but as far as temps go, you seem to have that covered and are ok.  What is your current PSU power?  BF3 may be pushing your limits.

Hi guys if I play cod 4 my temps are around 50*C- 60*C BUT as far as I can tell they are around 60*C - 70* C when I play the new Battlefield. I can not be more acurate because I Can not check temps untill I have restarted my comp from a crash which takes 2-3 min but even going by what you guy's say my temps are not that bad but my power might be a big problem

That is a bit warm and if the temps continue to climb, that could be your issue as the PC would blue screen and shut down to protect itself.  Running those high temps will shorten your cards life span.  What video card do you have?  My last card's stock heatsink and fan was inadequate and as such would get a little warm when put under heavy load so I put on an aftermarket cooler which made a world of difference.

Hey baldie, do you have a program like EVGA precision installed so that you can manually adjust the cards fan speed?  When I game, I manually set the speed higher.  By default, the card is supposed to adjust speed vs temps but I prefer to set it and forget.

hmmm.  I have read that the card can run warm but seems the heat may not be optimally dissipating off the heatsink.  How long have you had the card?  You can hear the fan on the card running when you speed it up right?  Just asking to cover the bases.

I have had the GPU in my laptop up to about 105 C before.  This laptop is not the best at keeping things cool :)

What Merlin said. Check to make sure that the cooling fan on the card's heatsink is actually running when the PC is on. When it's off, spin the fan manually to make sure that it moves smoothly and freely. I turn my video card's fan up to 95-100% by default when my PC is turned on as well. Also, what kind of heat sink is on your CPU, and do you have good air intake and exhaust in your case? If any of the above are inadequate, your card will get hot no matter what you have on it for cooling. The environment around it within the case must be properly cooled as well.

the gtx 470 and 480 are very hot cards

I have found a lot of forum posts in germany where people complain about temp issues with the stock cooler...

80+ °C happens very often while playing demanding games and BF3 is stressing the gpu for sure :)

Baldie have a look here..they listed a few alternative cooling solutions....but some of them are expensive LOL

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=155262

hope that helps

Edit: like stated before, first have a look if the fan of the card is working

Yeah the GTX465, 470, and 480 all run hot. You cant get away from it, other then going with an aftermarket cooler. The newer 5 series run super cool. I thought it was getting warm at 65+70c running sli 570s. With a single 570 its running at 34 and loads at 55-60 @ 900/2000, they are pretty decent.
