Hey Guys and Gals,

I am in need of some guidance in the area of video creation/editing. I need to create a 12-15 second intro video for work and am completely out of my element. Any direction or help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I know this is kind of vague, but I dont know much about video so not sure what I need. If you can help me out at all hit me up here or on xfire. =D

Thanks In Advance!!!

if you are just wanting to do something simple like slideshow style, windows vista and up should have a program built in, and you just add your pictures/slides to the time line, and you can add music and text to it as well. i think you can also add actual video to it as well. give more detail on what you're actually trying to do, and maybe can give more informative help.

I need an actual video intro. Its for the publishing company I work for. Will have video with text coming across and music. Something like this here but customized.

I dont know the first thing about customizing these things so any help would be great. =)

that is a bit over my head, I don't do actual animation stuff like that. I just play around with pics and recorded vids and such.

I would hit up xCaliber, he's real good at that kind of stuff your wanting.

Adobe After Effects is among the best software for video editing...there are a lot of tutorials on youtube..

To download ..trial versions go here (if I remember correctly runs only on 64 bit) recommendation CS5 version.

the example is made in AE, thing is it uses particles, in a 3D space, so u need to understand how AE works and all, its not that easy if u not familiar with AE for simple video editing, but its not real hard.

now with videohive its easier. they will provide you the files to edit in AE u can easily edit the text and several things. but of course the best would be to learn AE, maybe check some tutorials, it can helps a lot

Arrienn...videohive is the best place to look for intros like that.... I had a lot of on my PC...but my backup HD crashed and all of them are gone

you have to buy a license to use it for a company......for my private videos its not this important but if you want to use it in a official way its better to buy it

if you dont need it next week I would love to help and I will talk to Macgyver if he is able to help

he is moving this weekend and I think he will be very busy the next 2 weeks like I am at work atm

just send me PM what you are looking for

Arrienn,

I'm a video editor and have done several compositions similar to example you posted. All the advice above is good and yes the trailer was done in Adobe After Effects which is not for the average video dabbler. One resource I use is http://www.videocopilot.net/ . This is hands-down the best tutorial site I have found for After Effects. After Effects is a great tool for producing comps like the one you posted but it has a steep learning curve.

Thank you so much everyone. I have after effects, but have not used it ever. I guess now's a good a time as any to learn. While I was never a dabbler, I think this is going to become a regular part of my job, so might as well jump in. =) I will check out some of these tutorials for sure, and if anyone has time to jump in TS and answer some questions, I would appreciate it. Thanks again guys! XI rules. =D

its easier if you start with a file of videohive or videocopilot and change it the way you want it

for sure you need to listen to many of the tutorials at least about the basics.....its much fun but a lot of work LOL

here is the video I made long time ago

found it somewhere and changed it the way I needed

Yeah I realize this is alot to bite off at once, but it sort of fell into my lap and could mean really big things. This book trailer and intro (oh yes, now I have to make the whole trailer not just the intro) are going to be used in presentations to all the major studios out in LA to pitch the screenplay converted from the book. A lot of really big name producers and directors are going to be seeing this and it as to be good and could be my foot in the door for something major. =D Still kind of wondering how I got myself into this. EEK!
