About the installationDon't miss the major art installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red at the Tower of London, marking one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War. Created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins, with setting by stage designer Tom Piper, 888,246 ceramic poppies will progressively fill the Tower's famous moat over the summer. Each poppy represents a British military fatality during the war. The poppies will encircle the iconic landmark, creating not only a spectacular display visible from all around the Tower but also a location for personal reflection. The scale of the installation intends to reflect the magnitude of such an important centenary creating a powerful visual commemoration. codpiece, JohnnyDos, baldie and 1 other 4 Awards

Labob whoever wrote that quote is a bit mixed up, Britain joined WW1 on the 4th August 1914, which will have been our first full day of involvement, November 11th is when all hostilities in WW1 ended. Hmm why didn't quote show when i quoted quote lol. Edited November 12, 2014 by Sonovabich baldie 1

Thats an awful lot. And I think that quote was from a British newspaper. I Originally seen it on Canadian news here in Kingston. Was the first time the Queen took a visit I think. Sonovabich 1 Awards

They are being removed, checked and cleaned prior to being sent out to purchasers. Millions have been raised for several forces charities. Awards
