So i purchased Tomb Raider 2013 on steam for $25, I thought "What a great deal!!". The very next day the game goes on sale for $6. So i contact steam and say "Hey i just bought this game less than 12 hours ago, can i be refunded the amount i would have saved?"

Their response: "Sorry we do not offer refunds before or after game purchases and sale periods. Be sure to check for deals when they are available."

How the hell am i supposed to know when a game goes on sale before i purchase it!

The thing is though, this is how it works with sales in every retail store ever across the globe.

Sale deals are set to be valid on certain dates. If you buy it on the day before or the day after - no, you won't get the discount.

It sucks, and you might feel tricked, but it's seriously just bad luck for a costumer to time a purchase like that. The company can't do anything about it.

Remember that all sales mostly result in economic loss for the company - that's why sales are limited to certain periods of time.

If a company would actually profit from sales, the games would ALWAYS be that cheap.

You are probably not the only one who bought a game on the day before it went on sale. Just imagine if everyone got their money back because of bad timing.

Plus, it's the game company/developer/publisher that decides if their game is gonna be in sale or not. Steam doesn't decide which games go on sale,

so the whole thing is pretty much out of their hands.

Where would it stop? a day before, then why not two? what about if I bought it, didn't play it and then a week later it went on sale?

What you are experiencing is commonly referred to a 'buyers remorse'.

My biggest beef with putting Steam on my system is it always seems to screw it up,

Think 2 or 3 times I installed it ive had steam ruin things and I had to do a complete reinstall of everything

That game has been on sale numerous of times always for $5 or so. I feel sorry for your purchase

The game is excellent though once you complete the game in the end you wont feel so sorry about the price you paid for it.

I still have to get the new tomb raider its meant to be unbelivable!

That sucks Ah.  You are right about the price stuff though.  I once bought a snow blower at Walmart and a week later it went on sale.  Went back with my receipt and got $300 bucks back.  However, with online game purchases such as Steam, policy may be somewhat different.  Too bad though.  Just shitty timing...

Yup many of the bigger chains will explicitly say that there is a refund/sales window if you buy something early. Saw a lot of this around Christmas.

Policies like this always differ, since there are no laws stating wether or not a company should use refunds or price guarantees.

There are pointers and guidelines, but no company is bound by law to refund your product unless it's broken by no fault of your own.

Especially games/movies/operation systems are excluded from any refunds since they can't be re-used if it's been sold via a code. When the code is activated, the value pretty much goes down to 0.
