An old Vietnam Veteran friend of mine gave me this Camillus knife years ago. It was rough, battered, and scared, really used. Wish I had taken a before picture, but I didn't. Was sitting at my desk w/a can of Mother's mag wheel polish nearby, and absentmindedly started polishing. Never used Mother's on hardened steel before, didn't think it had any effect, but wow! I was wrong. Lots of polish, lots of sanding w/1000 grit, and stoning an edge & honing on a butcher's steel got it to this point. It can cut a sheet of paper freehand, about as sharp as I can get anything.

Very nice knife!  Also, what was it scared of?  Got a few from Walmart for fishing & hunting.  Good balance, rugged, comfortable grip, holds an edge well-enough for most any task.  Not bad for ~$10.00.   https://www.walmart.com/ip/Camillus-9-5-Titanium-Bonded-Fixed-Blade-Camp-Knife-Gray-Handle/983016213

Also, feels like it actually has a full tang, too!  That's probably why it feels as sturdy & well-balanced as it is.  It balances right where you apply your thumb & index finger.

It's tough, don't know what alloy it is or what tempering they did. Scared.....lol, probably scared it was going to be ignored for a few more years. Here's my Ontario kitchen set, they were scarred from use too, but Mother's brought them back to a mirror shine. My wife Lori loved using them, but hated the cleaning part. She was a dishwasher kind of gal. Put a brand new set of Rada knives through our washer & ruined every handle. 😊
