I have weird things happening when I join the ftag server, happened last week and happened again today, I notice a couple of others with the same problem (@Being?) might not be the same. When I join the message server disconnected comes up and theres a flash, join again and I have lost all my rank points and go to basic default loadouts. I solved this last week by reloading the GFG file under my profile as I keep copies, it worked. This afternoon same thing but reloading GFG file didn't, I had to restore my Robmc profile folder from last restore point, but it doesn't look right (but works although I've lost 2 ranks) this is what I see in my user profile under Robmc :-

Folders Mods, Mods1 and Robmc again + CFG File config_mp.cfg and file mpdata

If I open up the above Robmc file I see mods, cfg and mpdata

Could someone have a look please and tell me what it should be, I suspect in the first Robmc - Mods1 and second Robmc should not be there

Like I say I played with Being this morning and he'd lost all his ranks too

I had the same issue when I logged on the MW2 server last week. Lost rank, reverted to default settings, and lost my personal setup (options, killstreaks, etc).

Everything worked fine when I last logged off. No errors or other options displayed to warn me that anything would be reset.

That's why you should keep a regular profile copy, anyone who doesn't know how put in search, been posted many times, but very strange this is happening to so many people around the same time?

Yea @RobMc something might be corrupt I would backup your profiles again and blow away the entire thing. Registry, Game Files, Mods, any settings associated with Cod 4, etc... restart your computer then reinstall. I would also run CMD as admin and do a sfc /scannow just incase.

Oster is correct with sfc/scannow

other note on Defragging

Never defrag a SSD  will kill it over time doing this

not on RAM SSD drives degrades it

defrag ok for spinning disc HDD

@KaptCrunch You are referring to dskchk, SFC scans the file system not the drive so C:\Windows and hidden files related to Windows, also I did not say to defrag the drive I meant just backup and delete anything related to Cod 4. Sorry if that was misconstrued.

I agree sorry but  still good info for others on defragging

sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache.

i'm  awake now

if you have your old  profile @RobMc   just start the game but where it says profile make a new one   fire up the game and  play on our server with that new  profile   5 min so let it loads everything that is on there  then copy your old  acount in that new one should be good know BUT only if that old account is not corupted
