map skipping

Can we either stop map skipping and encourage players to quit the map and come back after the map is finished or if map skipping is allowed can it not be selective?

We went through this before, if they scream go to spec keep playing most of us do, they soon return, officially the map can only be skipped after a vote by an admin or moderator. Some of the fckrs threaten you, just laugh your balls off and stick your ground.

a matter of time in CoD5 servers now doing a vote for maps in chat box by

typng "!like" or  "!dislike" .  Help Merlin weed out the unfavourable and bad maps.  also can post commits in map rotations thread  for are too many maps for one person to clean up also need players to test maps and very time consuming. Common lets as a group pitch in for sure be faster for the extra hands.

not sure if can be done in CoD4, just a thought to help player experience.

there are  many maps to weed out the bad ones for one person, whos doing the map rotations for CoD4? may have to ask them if posible

No no no, this like/dislike is on all the main servers, this is quite quite different.

This is if they don't like a map ( because it doesn't suit their style of play ) they try to bully the other players to go to spectator, this then changes the map. They get quite abusive at times, but a map can only truly be changed by a vote, moral of the story do not 'go to spec', fuck them.

in CoD5 i think vote is disabled and doing the spec thing is a 100% majority action and if no admin on changes to next map less then a minute. always one person holds up, but thinks is a super killer for 1 VS a team

The !like and !dislike exist on COD4.

I have always played on the basis that there are maps I like and maps I dislike.  I then vote accordingly.

I also appreciate that the maps I really dislike I just spec or quit out and come back later.  I don't think map skipping is good as there are obviously maps that I really enjoy.  The same map skipped twice in one day.  

When Admins skip a map they then don't allow others to play a map that they enjoy.  Equally it would be fair to say that map enjoyment can be based on who is on your team.  The skill of people on that team.  The skill of people on the opposing team.  If your winning your less likely to want a map skip - equally if your losing you may want a map skip.

If you have never played a certain map a lot you may find it difficult and confusing.  I suggest you keep up and try it out.  I have a love of maps that allow sniping.  I know others hate maps that have such easy routes to sniping.  I'm not good at running around with an auto trying to kill.  Yet for the sake of anothers enjoyment give it a go.  Sometimes even surprise myself.

Map voting will allow people to stop maps from coming back.  Map skipping will potentially ruin others enjoyment of that rotation.  

I firmly believe and suggest that we should use the current system of voting to deal with map likes and dislikes rather than skipping.  That is what it is there for.  Else it leaves us to look at player lists and decide to only play when there is no admin on the server.  Then we can have an unobstructed playing of a rotation with no fear of missing out on maps.

I heard the excuse from an Admin that the reason for only one vote for skip and then play the next is because "People wouldn't play any maps" - Easily solved by the voting system already in place.  

I would hope the rotations are designed to look at the different possible playing styles.  So maps for sniping, running around etc.  

In the many years I have been playing on this server I think its well over the 6 I have medals for I don't remember all this map skipping.  Is it a relatively new rule/allowance?

I would hope players would use different maps to learn new skills and enjoy different playing styles as certain maps demand rather than give up and call a vote.

Absolutely right, unfortunately buddy this is a regular argument

1/. Yes seen this a couple of times where the admin changes without a vote, or worse you count the votes too and it goes the other way. What can also be confusing can be the way they call the vote, some say do you want to play the map or do you want to skip, Yes then has two effects. Please type 'Do you want to play this map, yes or no'

2/. Spot on, we have some fantastic larger maps that we hardly ever see because of the run and gunners

3/. Map skipping stopped but apparently is reappearing, needs nipping in the bud now, what is worse is that many times members want to play and are voted off their own servers, that is ludicrous.

the same voting is in cod4 as cod5,,!like !dislike,,,I think becasue 1 map gets many likes means we want to play it over and over,,when thats not the case,,,1 map should not be replayed in rotation for 1 month minimum,, we may like a map but get sick of it,,lolol I like the in game voting,,does not need an admin and majority get the map changed,,so much easier then empting a server.
