I just got myself a new one about 2 weeks ago and it is amazing.

I think the refresh rate on the one you shared is a little better then mine.  But, I personally really like the curved screen and higher resolution.

Your video card definitely matters when selecting resolution/refresh rate, and your CPU to a somewhat lesser extent. At the extreme; 1080p monitor + RTX4090 = CPU bottleneck (even if you have a 14900K/7950X3D) and a waste of a 4090...that card could easily do 4k 250fps in COD4.

My recommendation for standard size monitors:

RTX3080/RX6800XT or better = 2160p(4k)

RTX2060/RX6700 or better = 1440p

Anything below 1440p cards = 1080p (assuming you will not be upgrading your graphics card, lol)

Thanks again to each of you for your big brains and helping the biggest wiener on the server.

Drumroll, please . . . And the winner is:

https://a.co/d/5HAKM3U. I picked this one cuz its named after AOC who is my favorite politician and I'm hoping the monitor is as smart as her.

Plus, the price let me accessorize with Hyperlink mouse https://a.co/d/72TzXo2, headset https://a.co/d/6RVH2Rg and keyboard https://a.co/d/gXCdFYEKQTK my mom is getting me for my birthday.

Make sure and turn the "low input lag" setting on.

Also, fps checker for when you've set it up: https://www.testufo.com/

I haven't messed with the settings yet. However, I can tell you the difference is very noticeable. How? Glad you asked . . . I can tell when someone kills me. Ha. In the past I'd get shot and not until I was frozen could I see the head popped up, etc. It is good to see the many ways in which I suck at this stuff so I can try to fix it. 😉

Now then, for the fps checker. What am I looking for? lol.

lol, my first few games were very..akward.  Like fuck me, I'm playing worse!  I'm not sure what we are allowed on the server but, I keep my frames locked at 150 in game, any higher and I get the running in water/slow mo effect, if I run with no fps cap, I get some really strange glitches with chat and menu selection.

I'd also like to know what we are looking at on this test page.

Yep, screens can make a big difference. Depending on your old screen, you could be knocking a significant chunk off your in-game reaction time. I think it was like 25ms I gained on https://humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime when I got mine. My last screen was pretty bad though. See Shadow's post for what your fps checker should look like with a 165hz monitor.

Assuming your monitor max is 165hz and that is what you want, this is correct. It's just checking that your refresh rate is actually what you think it is. Max allowed "com_maxfps" in-game is 250.

Here you go. My framerate is not what Shadow's is. Is that something that is manually fixed?

This means the monitor is currently only running 60hz, and not 165hz. Yes, you'll need to change some settings in windows.

If you right click on the desktop, goto display settings, and then advanced settings you should be able to crank it to 165 there.
