He's being an Idiot. Reinstall your SQL. Yeah, that'll fix it alright... A malware scan isn't a bad idea, though. If you're running Windows and you're not running MS Security Essentials, it's time to get on that bus. Free, and effective because I don't know anyone more qualified to protect Windows better than Microsoft. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download Beyond that, you may be experiencing problems with the internet that are beyond your control. Sometimes a hop along the route to a destination on the internet (this website, for instance) is having difficulties. Could be your ISP's DNS servers messing up. Personally, I recommend using Google's DNS servers (primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4) but if you don't know how to adjust DNS servers, be careful !!! Do it with someone on the line who can help you clean up any mess you find yourself in. Get this setting wrong and you will not be surfing until you get it fixed. Here to help if you need it.
