They either come up randomly, come up when I click a legitimate link (like the forums tab in here) or they are highlighted and linked within a word on the page I am looking at. I have ran malewarebytes twice, once the short and once the long version. Anyone else have a recommendation to get rid of this?

The protocol says, "HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy." Also when I close Internet Explorer I get the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message. I have checked if the popups happen when I use Firefox and they do.

Correct run in safe mode after updating malewarebytes 1st....If by chance it prevents you from updating download malewarebytes to a thumb drive reboot in safe mode then launch malewarebytes from thumb drive it will auto update and run..... Also not sure if you use Ccleaner but it is handy for clearing cookies and temp files where the "virus" spyware is stored Also it has a uninstaller built in with a registry cleaner too Blackbart and Damage_inc- 2 Awards

Here's the short version of the Definition of a RootKit if you were wondering. It's NASTY. Rootkit installation can be automated, or an attackercan install it once they've obtained root or Administrator access.Obtaining this access is a result of direct attack on a system (i.e.exploiting a known vulnerability, password (either by cracking, privilege escalation, or social engineering).Once installed, it becomes possible to hide the intrusion as well as tomaintain privileged access. The key is the root/Administrator access.Full control over a system means that existing software can be modified, including software that might otherwise be used to detect or circumventit. Rootkit detection is difficult because a rootkit may be able tosubvert the software that is intended to find it. Detection methodsinclude using an alternative and trusted operating system, behavioral-based methods, signature scanning, difference scanning, and memory dump analysis. Removal can be complicated or practically impossible, especially in cases where the rootkit resides in the kernel; reinstallation of the operating system may be the only available solution to the problem. When dealing with firmware rootkits, removal may require hardware replacement, or specialized equipment. Awards

And a good virusscanner will prevent you from malware. I have Avast antivirus and that seals the deal for me (blocks sites who send out malware and other evil things). Awards

Running something like FSecure or similar Internet Security Suite, for around $50 a year, has always prevented me from having to deal with such things. I know there are free ware options that are great, but I'm lazy.. $50 bucks a year and I don't have to even think about it is a pretty good deal to me. That covers 3 separate computers for that price too. Awards
