My motherboard says pci-e 2 on it, will a pci-e 3 graphics card fit it and just run lower data transfer rates or is the physical connection different? The cards are backward compatible, PCI-e 3.0 is a protocol specification but the physical interconnects are the same. CPU, Mobo, GPU, Memory. A lot of good info above...clean the inside of your computer out (can air or a shop vac...never let your gf see you operate a legit vacuum cleaner) hit the fans really good too, monitor your cpu and gpu temps.
