Hello XI members,

Since ENG is not my native language, I ask for your understanding in case of mistakes.

I've been having a problem connecting to the MW2 FT 1.46 server for a few days now. The problem is present if I use my main Internet connection through Internet provider "X".

If I use the services of this internet provider, I can connect to any "XI" server except MW2 FT 1.46. When connecting to the MW2 FT 1.46 server, I get the message "Awaiting key code authorization".

After approx. 10 seconds, I get the message "Server connection timed out" on my screen. If I want to connect to this server, I am currently forced to use a connection through Internet provider "Y".

The quality of the internet connection is worse, which is noticeable while playing.

I have some basic knowledge about this problem. The key I use is original. I tried to apply the advice you gave to some of the members in previous years for the "Awaiting key code authorization" problem, but without success.

Is it possible that on the MW2 FT 1.46 server somehow the IP address of my main internet provider "x" remained connected to the CD KEY I use, and that in some background process it recognizes me as connected to the server?

Can anyone from the Admin team tell when the server will be restarted again?

I thank everyone for their suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Best regards

1. Restart the Game and Client

  • Close MW2 completely and restart the game. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix authentication issues.

2. Check Server Status

  • It's possible that the MW2 servers are down for maintenance or facing issues. Check official sources like:
    • Activision's Server Status page
    • Call of Duty Twitter
    • Other community forums to see if other players are experiencing the same issue.

3. Verify Game Files

  • Corrupted or missing game files can cause issues like this. If you're playing on Steam or Battle.net, you can verify the integrity of the game files:
    • Steam: Right-click the game in your library > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.
    • Battle.net: Click on the gear icon next to the "Play" button > Scan and Repair.

4. Reboot Your Router/Network

  • If you're on a slow or unstable network connection, authentication issues can occur. Try restarting your router to reset your connection.

5. Update the Game and Platform

  • Ensure that both your game and your platform (Steam, Battle.net, etc.) are fully up to date. Developers often release updates to fix bugs like this.

6. Clear Cache (for Battle.net users)

  • If you're using Battle.net, clearing the cache can sometimes resolve connection issues:
    • Exit Battle.net.
    • Navigate to the Battle.net folder and find the "Battle.net" and "Blizzard" folders.
    • Delete them (don't worry, they will regenerate when you relaunch the app).
    • Restart Battle.net and try again.

7. Disable Antivirus/Firewall

  • Antivirus or firewall settings might be blocking the game's connection to the server. Try temporarily disabling these to check if it resolves the issue.

8. Contact Support

  • If none of the above works, you might want to contact Call of Duty or Activision support for further assistance, especially if it's an account-specific issue.

Give these steps a try and see if it helps! Let me know if you're still having trouble.

Our MW2 server is a modded COD4  server, so only some of the above would work

I often get this error too, but mine connects.

I was kinda thinking it might be punkbuster issue but maybe it does have something to do with our servers?

Are you using the latest codx client?  Maybe try going back to 1.7?

This is not the issue as I'm running the latest version of CODX and rolledback safely to 1.7

Thanks for the suggestions. I think  I'm using version 1.7.  (ExtVersion=1.7).  I deleted the mod, but it still won't let me connect to the server.

I managed to update the CodX client. The current version is 21.2. Three things are noticeable:

1. I still can't connect to the server using the main internet connection

2. Before the server sends a message that the connection time has expired, it now takes 16 seconds - before it took 10 seconds

3. The list of favorite servers is updated very slowly and contains some servers that I did not have on that list

Although the problem is not solved, thanks for the suggestion

There are no changes in the service. The service package I use from that IP has not changed for 3 years

I'm sure there is a firewall from the ISP. I have attached a video that will make it clearer what is happening to me. Additionally, I thank you for the effort you put in. I suggest that we wait for the restart of the MW2 FT server when they change the map rotation. Maybe this will solve the problem.

@Roody just like us at the end of the year.

Keep trying and eventually it worked again by itself.
