I have two desktop PC's, one with an GeForce GTX 285 - NVIDIA ( MSI X58 Pro-E Desktop Board ) the other with a GeForce GTX 295 - NVIDIA ( Realtec Asus Socket 1366 P6T SE )

I play existing games quite well but have noted they are starting to fall behind with some of the newer games coming.

From information above can a determination be made for a top line video card upgrade?

well as with any upgrade a budget limit is needed, how much money do you want to spend?  What else are the systems used for besides gaming? Sorry for all the ?'s, but I have one last one, how big are  your power supplies?  If you can run the 295 you should be ok just wanted to know just in case.

Budget is not an issue but lets say 800, that should cover anything I think, I would want to identify the best and then shop around for best price.

Primary use is gaming, my business use is minimal.

Power supplies on both are 750W.

Hey, and if I do not need an upgrade tell me, I am not sure where I am with what I have.

Above of any use?

Well I just bought the Sapphire twin fan 6950 Dirt 3 edition, 2048mb after a long time looking, and a quick chat with Mofo, and with the dual bios can be stepped up to a 6970 2048, so maybe this is a possibility?

ARG umphhh sure don't go below a 560 ? all I got and it is probably all you need ? and you only issue is dirx 11 your not going to see much of an improvement besides that. I'll be honest I'll never be able to test a 580 against anything else but I;m ussually at the top of the score sheet for much less peso's. I just got a 560 asus ti and it runs sweet but my score ain't better.

My nVidia 550 is the low-end of the current generation, but I still get 90+ fps in COD-WAW. For future-proofing, go for the 560 and above, dual cards in SLI if it's in the budget. I've been an nVidia user for a few years, so my knowledge of ATI/AMD is limited.

What Temp Is A new Card Supposed to Run at? Im up to 88 Celsius playin bf3.   I have a 550 ti, this card handles new games great, but I could use some tips on Setting it up to get better graphics in game, and the Profile.... With the Fan off Auto. I would like a profile for Evga Precision... without a Black screen of Death I recieved on my first uneducated try.

If you can afford to upgrade, its probly better that you do, otherwise u can always lower your graphics standards so that you have more FPS.

I'm facing a similar question here, as, despite what the game publishers have said and the results of "Can You Run It", my current card ( Radeon HD 4870) cannot handle MW 3 in multiplayer and the PC blue-screened last night in BF3.

I have decided to go for a mid-range card for reasons of finance (the 1GB Sapphire card I have eyes on is GBP136) and power supply (500w required which I believe is in this machine).  If I go for a higher-spec card, I have to add a PSU upgrade for at least an extra GBP100!

If money were no object, I'd choose a high-end Radeon but as long as I get a card that can prevent the sight of a disembodied Magnus head travelling about the map in MW3, I shall be happy.

I appreciate all the feed back and the end result is that I am staying with what I have.

I took MW3 back to the store, unopened, yesterday. My gaming fix is okay with what I already have and did not want to get involved with anything Steam related.

So I will stay with my NVIDIA 285 & 295 as long as I stay with current games installed. I get about 200 FPS with WAW each and possibly more but have my max FPS set at 200 in the Config. Good enough for me, anything over 60 FPS is enough in my understanding anyway.

Your cards are still decent cards...unless you wanna go crazy about resolution or eye-candy, it's not a bad idea to keep them...

Wait and see what the new gen will bring to the table!
