Nice looking shrimp. Is that a clown fish I can see in the background?

You have to have considerable expertise to maintain a saltwater tank, don't you?

I ran a moderately sized freshwater tank stocked with goldfish when my son was

small - filthy things. I had to install an external Eheim Ecco filter to keep the water

in reasonable condition. Then, one day, whilst I was cleaning it out, I found a load

of fry inside it! We had about 20 survivors to nurture in a "babies" tank before rehoming them!

Had ambitions to keep a tropical freshwater tank (Amazonian) but that was vetoed and I

wouldn't have room for it in our new home.

I had a couple big marine tanks years ago but a storm knocked out our power for a couple days and thousands of dollars of fish literally had to be flushed. Never again.

The hobby certainly teaches you about water chemistry, doesn't it?

The biggest obstacle to keeping Amazonian fish like tetras here is the hard, alkaline water.

It has to be treated before fish can survive. If one wants a tank full of rocks and big

African cichlids, that's less of a headache, but I always loved the little neons among plenty of weed

in the pet store. Even with the goldies (one of which was blue!), I would spend time watching them

rather than the TV!

You are correct. I have noticed that I spend 10-15 minutes just staring in the tank daydreaming about nothing. Then remember that I was going to do something.

I remember one time something went wrong and bam....coupla grand of fish were flushed...

I had piranahas....started with 4...and ( i was in my 20's) when I didnt get to the store to get goldfish on time they ate each other...ended up with one...lol..

lots of fun though and very relaxing to watch....enjoy....and get a rescue tank going....even a small one....them fish aint cheap....

I like my tanks better than most ppl I know in real life.. lol.. They are way less stressful and easier to deal with. I have one tank with guppies, platies, algae eaters, and a cory, I also have live plants in that one. Another tank with an Oscar, a pacu and a huge pleco .My least favorite tank btw. I didn't pick those fish, others did. One tank which is my favorite, it's octagon with 2 blood parrots, one I got today yay ! a cory, a smaller pleco, and one cichild. My last tank has tetra's and neon's in it, along with a cory and 2 of the brown loach fish, they kinda look like eels. I could spend hours watching them, they have no worries and just kinda drift thru life, ,

Hey Blackcat. Look out for them Oscars. They get out of control. I had a 50 gal freshwater tank and got one when it was small. 2 years later it was huge. same with the platies. I still like the freshies, but I'm lovin the salties now that I have gotten a hold on the hobby.

Yeah I know, the Oscar's in a 55 gallon tank, that should be plenty big enough for him. The Pacu that's in there will have to go some where else when he grows more, I didn't buy that fish, lol I wouldn't have. They grow way to big for most tanks, Right now he is about 5 inches so I have a little time to plan something for him. I wish I could do a saltwater tank, but the cost is so high. On one forum I'm on, someone was doing a smaller tank with saltwater and already had over 4 hundred in it...Ouch.. So I'm sticking with what I have for now, My favorite fish of all is the blood parrots, I love them. For saltwater fish it would be the clowns, I love nemo too. I used to collect stuffed animals of him, lol I even have a Nemo purse somewhere. And yes. I'm a true idiot ! I used to carry it when shopping.. I got some looks! lol I guess many ppl don't see an old woman using a kiddie purse... but .. it's what I wanted to use.. it's sooo cute !

i too lost a salty and said never again lost about 5k in fish and eels. Parasites from a store we bought fish from wiped the whole damn tank.

We had that same shrimp we called him Rodney cause he got no respect one of the fish would pick him to the top of the tank and let him go the fish liked watching him fall.

Onverwacht

RIP

unexpectedly

You were always such a cheerful and lively fish, nobody wanted a boyfriend you also lose ..

But one day something happened that nobody had ever expected, there was something deep inside you what we never imagined.

all hope was suddenly gone from you and you went under a large number of problems curved ..

Still, you never let someone do something of note, had told us something, we might perhaps mitigate the damage!

Nobody knew it was serious, but unfortunately this was not previously thought, but only now ..

You're somewhere where none of us can reach you, but once we get there, we will immediately hand suffice!

Kelvin we will miss you
