If it has an antenna (although some wireless router designs don't even have a visible antenna) then you might not need to get one at all. Many routers are on 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.1 so if you key that into your browser address bar, it should get you to the setup screen for the router. A call to your ISP might clarify the capabilities of the box if you cannot. If you have a very simple cable modem or dsl modem with only one ethernet port to connect one PC, then you definitely need a wireless router. I'm skeptical about the different choices that proclaim they are good/better/best for a particular application like media streaming to connected televisions and such. Any solid router should do well enough assuming you have good bandwidth coming down from your ISP. From Amazon, this looks like a fine choice - and I like the LinkSys/Cisco brand: Linksys E1200 Wireless-N Router There are other choices, of course, to fit any budget and any advanced capability. But again, I think a basic router works well in most cases. More advanced models might be fitting in congested wireless environments and/or where best performance at greater distance from the router is important. I got a pair of these to hook the TV in the family room. Was too far for a decent signal and the wife just hated the buffereing ove wifi. This really worked great . http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2713549&CatId=
 Awards

It is connected by the ethernet port to my computer. It also has an usb port on the back. If I connect a wireless adapter to that port, would the TV be able to connect to it? Or would it be simpler to use a router and see if the TV can connect to that. I do not want to run a cable out of the room I am in to another room in my house if I can help it. Service providers now have a modem/router all in one type of unit to simply the home network experience for the average user. I have one of those to which I disabled the router part only because I have a couple of servers I run my network on. Anyway, your other alternative is to get a wireless N router such as this D-Link http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6654485&csid=_61 or http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2755284&CatId=2668 or something similar. Shop around of course as Tigers prices are not always the best. If you go the wireless route, make sure you get wireless N though for best video streaming results. Setup is not difficult and your TV should connect without issues. Good luck.
 Awards

Works great, and it's costs about half what I paid for it when I got it. http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-WRT160N-Wireless-N-Broadband-Router/dp/B000Z3U1P6 I have not tried it going to a wireless tv, but I think it should do fine
