I too went through a heart episode to include stints and bypass. In act after receiving the stint my heart stopped for 16 minutes while I was in recovery. The nurses an staff brought me back without any damage. Had I been home I would have died, because of their quick and excellent response I am still here today. That was over 10 years ago.

BTW having had my heart stopped for 16 minutes set some kind of record at Lehigh Valley Hospital, well known as a heart hospital here in PA.

That episode initiated immediate bypass surgery the following morning.

Let me tell you it did wonders for me but recovery takes time and exercise. My wife was my drill sergeant and my kids my moral support. I simply cannot express how much family did and meant for me during that time.

Hang in there and lend whatever moral support you can to your Dad. And yes, the patient can get grumpy and you need to be tolerant and forgiving. Sometimes the drugs he is being administered have a behavioral effect. Watch or ask the nurses, they understand.

Hopefully all will turn out well and he might actually be significantly better than before he had surgery.

I wish you and your Dad all the best.

Glad he can be home at least Johnny. Hospitals are no fun. Hopefully that will help his recovery.

Glad to hear he is getting better and is home. There are so many infections going around in hospitals home is probably best for him. Also it can be depressing sitting in hospital so at least he can relax at home where he feels comfortable. Keep your chin up anyway, surely they wouldn't send him home if he was in any danger :D

I don't think anyone has said it would be easy for either of you yet both of you seem to be coping as well as can be expected.

It is an indeed an emotional time for the whole family, a test if you will.

All of you seem to be passing.

Hang in their and appreciate moments as when your dad said you were his favorite. That is a moment to be cherished.

It is unfortunate that many of us, myself very much included, do not express the love we have for family until a we have crisis or it is too late.

Take care and best wishes to all.
