They did use safety line but its been removed to the seeing eye on the clip, but they only did one take and Van Damme nailed it on the first one. One teeny mistake and he would be toast. But the lines themselves typically are not part of it. The obvious exception being if its done by an actor not a stuntman or someone with training. I've backed large trailers my entire life and if you keep the wheels straight the trailer doesn't move. My RV trailer is 33 feet long and I can back it up in a straight line all day. These guys were working with a long and very smooth surface (probably an airport runway) and I don't see anything that is impossible. I agree, it can be done. Ive pulled lumber through the Rocky Mountains of BC for 10 years and i can back up Super B's in a straight line all day to. Its steering over corrections that cause the issues of backing up. That truck is also a Cab Over which makes backing up easier than conventional cabs. Going forward is a little more trickier. Not saying this video is a fake or real but I can certainly see it being done. His agility, the smooth surface, and very talented drivers. Not to mention they are advertising Volvo's steering technology. Filming it driving in reverse seems odd to me, whats the point. Filming it forward and playing it in reverse to give the illusion of "trust" i think is the point Volvo is trying to get across. Trust in there innovations.
