For a useful hierarchy of video cards, have a look at Tom's Hardware:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

If you are interested to know the minimum and recommended specs to run a particular game, refer to

Can You Run It at:

http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

(I recommend that you do not use Java but use your eyes instead to read the specs.)

The system builders that let you customise a build online are best - ultimately you have to balance performance versus

cost and will have to make compromises unless money is no object.

I have been looking at the vanquish level 3 system.  Does anyone have any dealings with this company?  Does it look like a good prebuilt system?

Hey BLU do you know anyone who can help you build one. The 4 generation i3 CPU is good but for gaming an i5 or better is required for the latest games. AMD makes some good gaming CPU's also. Also try to get at the least a 600w PSU make your puter a little future proof for any upgrades.

^I purchased an upgraded X51 from Alienware a couple months ago and absolutely love it. But then again, I also got a whole bunch of discounts as well...lol. Only downside is that since the X51 is in such a compact case, expansion is almost non-existent..but I'm completely happy with it regardless. Does everything I need it to do and still has enough power inside of it to last me a few years.

What I ended up getting...

Alienware X51
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English
16GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670 with 2.0GB GDDR5
2TB SATA 6Gb/s (7,200RPM) 64MB Cache
Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD±RW, CD-RW)
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4770 processor (8M Cache, up to 3.9 GHz)
Alienware 330 Watt Power Supply

Retailed for about $1600, but I only paid about $1,233.74 + $75 in taxes. Used military discount, EPP discount, as well as Dell Advantage discount. Ended up also getting a $64 Dell eGift Card for the purchase as well after the fact from the Dell Advantage Program.

Dell blows, sorry. Firdt need to know ur budget. Second, if u want to be upgradable, self build ( I can help with that. I've been a field engineer for over 35 years) . I have also built MANY a 'puter. What Dell doesn't tell you is the important stuff....power supply, cooling solutions, etc. PM me if I can help explain everything to you. Yuop might pay alittle more by building yourself but in the long run, it'll be easier to upgrade in the future just by getting better greaphics card, hard drive , etc. Just ask...I'll help.

I have to agree with Magnus, build it yourself. I had a dell and had a mobo failure, they wanted 260.00 for one to fit the Dell, I paid about 100.00 for a much better mobo so decided to build one myself.  And I am not a rocket scientist.  And it also kind of feels good when you get done putting everything together and push the button and everything works!!!! For the money your going to pay you should be able to build a hell of a computer.

Where they (Dell)  get you is they make their architecture to where only their pieces will fit.  The one I had was a mirror image to the aftermarket pieces so it would not fit. Take the plunge and build it yourself.  Or buy one from someone like Tigerdirect or New Egg. But just dont buy a brand name, buy one that they put together,

Vave a look at easypcbuilder.com they have a range of gaming pc's to fit most pockets and suggest hardware that works together. Also they have a good youtube video on how to build a pc, this may be a good place to gain info for whatever you decide

Laptop for pc gaming? it's a total joke of the day. Laptops are for casual business convinience, not for gaming. If you pick a laptop the thing you can upgrade later may be the hard drive and nothing else. You have limited option when it comes to screen estate and gpu upgrade.  Try to build one for yourself a gaming desktop.
