I got tired of my cheap'o tripod. It wiggles around too much and I always have to use the 2sec shot delay no matter what I'm doing with it.

My tax return was burning a hole in my pocket so I ordered this today.

Awesome! I love DIY solutions. I'm thinking of putting my BeagleBone Black dev board to use somehow with the camera. That'll be a Summer project.

What do you plan to do with it?  Web access? Scheduling? Auto shooting?

My daughter has been bugging me to take her to the beach for the last few days so today we have beautiful 75 degree weather with no fog at the coast and we drove down to Fort Cronkhite which is just around the corner from the Golden Gate Bridge. I've been going to this beach since I was her age and we spent a couple hours sitting in the sun and rock hounding. The beach is made up of tumbled agate gravel rather than sand, and you can find all different colors. She filled her backpack with about 20 pounds for her aquarium.

I forgot to grab my Nikon so these are just a couple cell phone pics.

Great pics BDS. I watched a couple days of the races myself, although my boss had his own photographers to take pictures of his boat, so I didn't bother bringing my camera.

It is a pain to post some of these pictures, My camera is 36 MP and I shoot uncompressed, Basically the file sizes are huge and having to reduce them to upload takes a bit.  Never thought of that till now

Loader is more into the woman on the left.

About a year ago I bought a bread machine, not sure why I just wanted to try it. Been making all different kinds since then but our favorite is the rasin cinnamon. Made a loaf today, and as usual it came out perfectly. I'll be slicing it in a few minutes so we can enjoy it warm.

Here are a few star shots I took with my basic t3i with a standard lens (forgot what it is and am too lazy to turn around and get it).  All these were shot from my back deck.  They are blended photos (3 different shots of exposure time) I forget what that is called again.  Then fused together with a program called Photomatix.  I must say not bad for an someone who started off on film, then dropped the hobby only to finally pick it back up 20 years later.

Today I made a sweet little thing for my camera.

It's a usb power adapter.  I can now power my camera for HOURS via a generic usb battery brick.

I like taking timelapse videos but the internal battery only lasts an hour. I tried to find a solution on the interwebs but came up with nothing so I put my diploma to work and made my own solution.

You camera junkies out there might really find this interesting.

Ok so how much would you like for one of these..I have a two pro photographers who may like this, and me of course.

What camera?

It really depends on the price of the dummy battery for that camera and how big you want the USB brick to be.

The little electric bit is pocket change but you have to wait a month to ship from china.

The whole kit for my Sony cost about $60 just for the parts.

I don't know, to be honest.  I haven't gotten into the Coastal Mountains to do any really long exposures.  I would have to also buy a cable release for it where I can hold on bulb without me having to hold it (if that makes sense, but to me it does so pthtptpptptptpht).  But I am hoping I can get out sometime soon.  Once the rainy season stops here.
