I had AT&T for years and then it finally got so bad I switched to Comcast. It worked great for a couple years until a lighting storm took out my wireless router and it's been a nightmare ever since. Constant service outages and spotty service. Forget talking to their service reps by phone. All they know how to do is keep you on hold for a couple hours then tell you to reset your router a few times while they attempt to sell you other products from Comcast. It's a freeking cluster fuck. That's about what my speed was a few years ago when we had a house in the country and were on Hughesnet satellite. It really sucked and was only slightly better than dial-up. I feel for you. My ISP for as long as I can remember has been a local company. Not the fastest speeds for the money but their customer service has always been %100 in case of problems and reliable. Not 24/7 obviously but they are local not in India. It really is hard to beat local services even tho its more expensive. So long as the local service is a good one. Unfortunately often they arent so its not always the best option and I do foresee a time when it will be bought out by ATT or somebody else. Comcast will fuck you over in the long run.DO NOT change your PLAN (add channels,increase internet speed or add a TV box) if you get the a "bundle deal".You'll end up with a bill that's damn near 2X what the "Deal" was. Fucking Monopolized money hungry company can charge what ever they want and do what ever they want,where there's no other service provider is around.
