I have 5 different hard drives I need to do some extensive work on and the first one works great but I can't connect to the internet with it. I have tried several things with no success at all. My provider is Xfinity and I actually connect on 2 of the hd. It is a 1 tb and has Windows 7 OS and worked when I replaced it with a 2 tb, but now it just lets me see everything in there really well but just won't connect to the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Awards

What exactly do you mean by connecting harddrives to the internet? I haven't yet figure how to connect them for storage yet. I installed Windows 7 when I first had it years ago then I changed the hard drive for a better one and put this one on the shelf. He said he can access the content locally but can't connect to the internet when he's using the computer with this harddrive and it's windows installation on it. @BigPapaDean So I think there is simply the LAN driver missing or not working properly. Go to device manager, check if there are any shout marks next to the devices. If not: Check in the control panel under Network and Internet / Network Connections if there are any ethernet adapters listed at all. If so, right click on it, go to properties, double click IPv4 and check if it's set to DHCP (get Ip address automatically). Assuming you connect your computer to a router with DHCP enabled. If no adapters are listed, get LAN drivers for your LAN adapter (mostly onboard of the mobo) and install them after you uninstalled the old ones completely from the device manager. As of right now I have them in my case but I only hook one at a time up to work on them ore access the internet from them. When I get them all ready I want to hook them up where I can use them all except the main one for storage. Yes they all have an OS on them that I installed on them when I used them. Maybe some day soon I can have somebody help me hook them up where I do not have to do one at a time. Awards

You do not need this I'm sure even if you thought that 5 would be the perfect back up there still in the same machine thats not a back up. So if you have to like me have a different OS for what ever reason that would mean 3 different OS xp win 7 and win 8. that leaves 2 hd running crap, format and use as storage period no need to have two os doing the same shit. If its window keys your worried about give them up you don't need them or the problem of keeping them updated. So you now have 3. You can get 2 to run so one is having problems. Back up the data format and reload windows on the HD that is giving you issues . That will solve your problem. So you now have 3 OS on 5 HD. Why ?? I can see having 2 HD running an os if one dies you can go to the next but 3 is over kill. So format the 3 biggest HD and use them for storage. Run win 7 on one and the other have 7 on it to update to 10. You have a brand new system and if you set it up this way you should have a long go at no problems. BTW al that is still in one machine so its really not any backup at all. Get some external drive cases and olny use 3 HD in the machine and 2 for external backup. If your up to that many HD you have to go this way. Running OS on HD and thinking there good back ups is a well pain and the OS is taking up space where you can store shit. So now we have to hook them up your new MB will allow 6 sata drives you now need 5 cables 3 id you pull 2 HD and use them externally. And to switch between hd with OS on them you tap the f8 key at teh MB logo and it will give you the option of what HD to load. Thats kinda basic but its is what it is. BigPapaDean and Blaze 2 Awards
