Headphone recommendation

Need some advice on good quality headphones. I don't mind going top of the line but looking for best bang for the buck.

 

I want to get good wireless gaming and music headphones. I tried Steelseries Siberia 800 but didn't feel like it was worth $300.

 

Any thoughts??

My personal headset is a steelseries H wireless. But I think i might switch to a Astro A50..  I also have a music dedicated headset, a shure hd 940, I kinda like having two You might like it in a other way. But I would by a Astro A50

No wireless headset is going to sound amazing due to it being wireless. You can't beat wired studio headphones. If the cord not being long enough is your concern you can buy a 6ft Audio extension cable for $3 or so.

 

If you are looking for good quality then wireless is what you want.

Hmmmm. Now you are making me think @ . I actually had a wired headset but my daughter (who is 2 now) could get her hands on it especially because I had hooked it to the front audio and now that one is broken.

 

I thought wireless would be more convenient but I didnt think that quality would be an issue since wireless data rates have significantly improved. Maybe I need to rethink this. I do want high quality.

I've been gaming for 17 years now, so I have been through lots of brands. They are pricey, but the best headset I ever had. I put a wind screen on my mic though because I usually have a heavy duty turbine fan going in the summer. My only complaint is the fake leather on the ear pads is crap and would break apart, eventually replaced them a year and a half latter with cloth pad replacements, but I haven't been able to find anymore for work headset.

 

I also just use the stock onboard sound card for plugging them in. No issues with hearing people trying to sneak up on me, unless they have dead silence perk.

well as for head sets m8 if u can be arsed charging batterys up all the time i would say get one with OUT cable cause out of the 10 sets i have from different companys like turtle beach corsair steelseries Orb x51 x40 x33 i could go on  all cable head sets break u be lucky to get 3 months max if u get wireless go for it at least there is no cable that twist and twist at the end snap sorry about spelling and grammer well i will say this nothing wrong with the headsets its the DAM CABLE they need to in prove the cable i have all my headsets the corsair one i have memory foam ear pads so if any one can be bothered to fix the cables they are free to a good home

For $300.00 you should be looking at audiophile brands, high end Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Grado, etc.  Not consumer stuff.  Especially if you want to use them for music.

Lower end headphones have weak cables that twist and snap. Studio grade especially BeyerDynamics don't have this issue. BeyerDynamic owners majority of them have had their headphones 8+ years including my brother. My brother does studio stuff and monitoring music with BeyerDynamic DT 770 80 ohm and has owned his headphones for 5+ years

BeyerDynamics are made very strong and any piece that breaks can be replaced.

It is not just the wireless data rates, Wireless headsets don't receive the same amount of power wired headphones receive. If you want great sound for music and everything else then wireless is not the way to go.

 

Wired headphones with an AMP is awesome! Gaming headsets are not good. The high price tags are just because the headset is associated with the word gaming. They are no different than any $50 headsets that are not branded towards gaming.

 

Excellent studio headphones start around $150.

$4000 but free shipping lol... I'm sure someone who can spend $4000 on headphones is willing to pay for shipping as well.

 

You should not pay more than $500 for headphones.

 

u wont need an amp if u have a good sound card xfi sound cards like mine 7.1 has a built in amp and it helps ur pc aswell adding a little exra power check them out m8

I stopped buying headphones many years ago due to wires getting damaged and i would have to throw it out. I've tried wireless headphones that were not for gaming. The sound quality is just ok because it's wireless. Charging them is a hassle just like a wireless mouse. Seems a lot has to do also with how careful you are with them. If you throw them around then they need to be beefier in their construction. But if they never leave your desk then more options might be available. I agree, get a headphone amp. Even a basic one is better than realtek. Just to note, I have read that there can be sound degradation if you have things amped up by both the card and the headset. Best to only do only or the other.  But thats just internet reading.

 

For gaming vs studio. I paid $100+ for my standard headset. I dont have a lot of money to spend on such things. Not a great one certainly but supposed to be good for its class. My gaming set, which cost a bit less, sounds significantly better for some reason for both games and music. At least to my old ears. So its a crap shoot and there is no substitute for actually listening to them.

 

edit. the $100 set were on a good sale so retail was around $150 at the time.

I have been using Logitech G35's for a while now and they work very well and sound great. I purchased my set for under $40. at Best Buy but I'm not sure if they still have them.

I don't use them for music but they work great for gaming.

 

They come with programmable software and they connect via USB. I believe Black Bart also uses these.

G35 is awesome for gaming,mine was falling apart after long years of using and i replaced it whith G930 which is as good .
