I can't join the 146b9 ftag server. #2

I've been still having trouble connecting to this server (which is why I hardly ever get to play on our server) Every once in a while I can but more often then not it won't show up.

 

I tried last night to no avail so I was messing around with some settings and all it accomplished was delete  my stats LOL

Well I said screw it and backed up what I could and I reistalled cod4 and without installing any mods or my user profile I added the server in manually to my favorites and I still will not work. All greyed out....

I just moved my saved maps, mods and profile over and thought I'd try again so I first searched via the cod4 game and added all the servers that I could find, the 146b9 was not in there so i added it manually again and with the attached picture you can see what is going on for me.

 

The game I uninstalled was a Steam game and I just let Steam download and install it again so I'm just stumped as to what could be causing this.

Any Ideas as to what I could try?

No that's the 2nd server. The one I'm talking about is the main server where most everyone plays.

Ahh, the topic title caught me out...... post #2 on this subject, not server #2!

 

Weird that one server wouldn't show up but the other on the same box would.

 

reset filters, check any firewall/antivirus, reboot router, delete mod files and twat it with a hammer!

Are you able to connect to other CoD4 servers?

 

(Assuming you are on Windows) Can you try running the game with elevated permissions? (Right click Run As Administrator) And then try connecting

 

Mule had a weird windows 10 problem that wouldn't let him connect unless he ran the game with elevated permissions

Do you know how to open the console? Just join the server manually, my favourites stopped working years ago lol, I do this with every server. Just bring up console and enter : connect 162.248.95.178:28960 , that is the ip for the main mw2 server. You can do this for any server, all of the ips are on gametracker.

Oh sorry about that lol!! It is confusing I see:}

I'll reinstalled everything but I did just move over the mod files so i will try that. Router has been rebooted. I can connect to absolutely every other server so I wouldn't think that the firewall or antivirus would be causing it.

Just so weird.

I did actually set it to run as administrator the other night and that's when the game reset my stats for some reason. I never ran it as administrator before and it always worked fine until june or so and then every so often it wouldn't show up but like the last 2 weeks it has never shown up for me. I'm running windows 7. I can connect to every other server without a problem. It's just the main cod4 mw2 server.

I just tried that and all it does for me is count to 10 and time out. I had that problem like you are having a few years ago and it worked perfectly then. I installed a new hdd and when I installed cod4 again it worked fine til now. Crazyness!!

@@iboomboom remember when you made that Iso file for cho? The copy of the actual cd of cod? Do you think that would help crazy with his problem?

I quickly skimmed thru this thread. A few things come to mind:

 

- All the patch updates installed v1.7 is the last one

- Firewall blocking the ports, make sure uPnP is enabled on your router, better yet enable DMZ to your machine for testing alone

- Make sure Windows firewall is not blocking the game app iw3mp.exe

- counting till timeout reflects you're unable to reach the server, and effectively open a connection socket

- Run a ping to the server IP address, if that works, which I think it should - try connecting manually, I know you've tried this but I am asking assuming you have verified all of the above

Hey boomboom!

I've got all the patches installed and I can connect to all our other COD4 servers.

The firewall is set to allow access to COD4, uPnP is enabled. I found the DMZ but I am not familiar with what I should do when I enable it. I am hardwired directly to my router if that makes a difference.

Would I run the ping test through the COD4 console or something else? I can see the server and the details of the server in question through hlsw just fine.

This is a steam copy. My original hard copy decided not to work anymore so I figured the steam version was just fine to use. Do you think that could be it?

My pc is pretty ancient but I wouldn't think that there would be any problems because of that.

I did figure out the ping test to the game server:

To add favourite servers again, try to rename servercache.dat to oldservercache.dat

If you start cod, the game will make a new servercache.

Your serverlist will be empty, but you can add your favourite servers again

Just tried that. I started out with no favorites at all. I added the server manually into the favorites and it's still greyed out. I can still see our other servers just fine and connect to them.

I tried that and that didn't work either.

How can one out of all our servers just show up as like dead?

My internet provider couldn't block that could they??
