It is official…. as of today the BP oil is washing up on Pensacola Beach Florida.  I took the wife and kids to the beach yesterday for one last look before the beach is fucked up.

I hope there is a special place in Hell for those responsible.  Even though this catastrophe is the result of an “accident”, it is known corners were cut, depth restrictions violated and officials turned a blind eye.

guess thats one way to look at it.  yeah, maybe home depot can sell mini refiners so you can make your own oil & gas from the tar.

The Exxon Valdez is one of the smallest spills.  I was surprised whena friend told me.  Look at this chart to see where this one and the Exxon Valdez compare with others.  It's scary, but back then there wasn't the publicity/media of today, as well as the understanding of what oil spills do in terms of devastation.

I have been thinking the same thing about explosives Blackbart but as far as cleaning the mess up, I don't think they will ever get this one completely clean. And Mazdarati I have to agree with you on your comment. It's not a laughing matter no matter where you live.

I agree on the explosives too, I bet no one has done it because no one has the balls, can you imagine the reaction from the public if it didnt work and made things worse, I dont believe it would if the right people did it. Its like BP recriuts from the gas station attendants and not educated/ properly trained people.

I for one am boycotting BP gas.

I am also well aware of the arguments not to boycott BP......... sorry but no go......I am boycotting them forever.

It's about the only way Joe Average can make an effective statement against them.

No doubt everyone agrees it's a horrible tragedy and nobody knows how long it will take to clean up or what the environmental impact will be.    But we also know the risks of offshore  drilling (any drilling for that matter) and most people don't give it a second thought when they're changing the oil in their car or filling up the tank or heating their home or whatever.

Take a look at all the countries BP operates in. I just dont' understand what good a boycott would do.    I'm not a huge fan of the big oil companies but many of us make our livings working for them and have been treated well.   BP has actually done many good things thru the years and it's a damn shame this happened and very sad for the families who lost their loved ones.

Its funny how  BP Arco stations seem to stay under $3 a gal, lower than anyone else. Ill pay the .05 cents more at mobil or chevron. Arco gas is shit anyway, its burns your valves in the long run.

I'm still baffeled why gas prices in Texas are falling. I paid $2.47 today when last week it was $2.62 at the same Race Track. WTF?

It's a PR ploy to ingratiate themselves with the consumer...This also points out just how over priced it is to begin with 'cause no matter what happens they are not going to sell it at a loss...SmileSmile

BP has been turning away a lot of local assistance.

I know the local Pensacola Beach maintenance has offered to work with PB on the best approach to cleaning the beach.  I mean, this is a local organization that cleans the beach every day and has equipment to utilize.  BP turned them down.

Also, the marine biology school at UWF offered to give assistance on monitoring the water quality and sea life at the beach.  They also got turned down.  UWF is monitoring anyways.

It really seems to me BP is trying its best to keep as much information as possible under wraps.  Also, every “sad” attempt at stopping or controlling the current leek revolves around salvaging as much of the leaking oil as possible.
