My mom who has battled dementia quite badly for a few years lost her fight and crossed over. While I was expecting this call I still wasn't prepared for the finality it brings to my life. If I sound kind of lost it's because I feel lost. The woman that taught me most of everything I know about life is gone. She taught me the love of hard work and growing things. She showed me how to love the land that provided me food! Most of all she taught me how to love my family to the end! I can't go back for the service so I asked them to record it for me and my niece volunteered. I did go back and spent a week with her in August knowing this time was coming soon. Even then it's still a shock when it finally does! I am coping with it so far but if you feel like it please send me some positive vibes when you think of me! I had lost my father to dementia and alzhiemer desease a few years back. Feel fortunate that you got to spend the time you did with her before it had progressed to the final stage. It is a hard thing to see and deal with, but in all essence you had probably spent the time with her when she still was her. It is a horrible desease that takes our loved ones from us before they actually pass. My heart is heavy for you but it s a part of life we all face. I lost mine a few years ago, and it's tough. I'll be praying for you, and I want you to know if you need an ear, let me know. So glad you got to visit her last August, that helps I think. I saw my mom shortly before she had her massive stroke, and I will never forget that. Here is a song that sums my mom up, she was always there for me. The song brings tears, but they are healthy tears, and a reminder that God is there for us. Praying for you my friend. If I can help, let me know.
