Freezetag COD4

Hi,

     I've been trying (badly) to play freezetag and must admit I don't really know whats happening, do we have any instructions on the server for scoring etc, I'm getting used to the speed of the acemod but freezetag i'm struggling with, i.e. how to defrost (there seems to be more than one way), how do get claymores etc (I'm presuming promotion) any help welcome. I tried putting freezetag in search but I'll be dead before I sort out all the answers, thanks

RobMc, there isn't anything in writing, per se, about how the freezetag server mod is played, but come to teamspeak sometime and I'd be glad to go over it with you......

Hi RobMc,  I defrost by pointing my weapon at the person frozen and then pressing the "f" key.

You didnt say which server but if ow2 you can also defrost two people at once. The first if you are right next to him and the other by aiming with the 'use' key (default 'f'). When you do you will see two defrost bars. I dont know about the ftag1 server.

I'm not sure about thawing 2 people at the same time in ftag1, but I do know that it's different than MW2 where only one person thaws, as opposed to multiple players thawing the same person.  Otherwise, it's considered stealing a thaw.

In ow2 you keep partial thaws if more than one does it. Or if you are shot in the process. So 1/2 of one player + 1/2 of another player = 1 thaw.

On the majority of the FT servers, including WAW, you can thaw 2 people at once which is better for your team. Like Sammy said you just have to stand right next to a teamate and aim at the other one using the F key. No matter who thaws or how many people, you just help your team way better and it's also faster to thaw. 

So 2 out of 3 ways to thaw are here. Third : in WAW (cod5)  you can also use a flame thrower. In cod4 on MW2, I know that there's a UAV thing but... I didn't catch how it works yet

Thanks Sammy/ Athena  all I need to figure out now are why it takes different times to thaw, and how many are left before you can't thaw ,and I've seen them throw a flashbang at me and I've seemed to thaw?, was it the flashbang or them? I didn't realise there were different rules on different servers either

An EMP grenade will thaw teammates on MW2, but not on ftag1 in COD4.  If you use the perk "snatch & grab" under Perk 2 on the MW2 server, you can thaw much faster than the normal thaw time.

And if you get a car, use it to defrost some teammates before blowing someone up.

1- defrost from a distance by aiming at a frozen teammate and pressing F.

2- being close to a frozen teammate, close enough to touch their bum.

3- EMP grenade, toss it in the vicinity of frozen teammates the closer the better. 

4- RCXD killstreak use it to defrost people as Sammy primarily intended it to be used. 

5- defrosting UAV killstreak, it flies around and defrosts players.

You can defrost faster with the snatch & grab perk. Even faster when you combine 1&3 or 2&3. 

* if you don't have the hardwired perk, enemy EMP grenade will disable your little Nissan leaf. 

* Enemies can shoot down your UAVs. Fucking enemies.

 

You can carry 3 kill streaks at any given time. If you happen to get a tactical nuclear killstreak it's carried in a different 4th slot. Can be carried thru multiple rounds. To assign keys for killstreaks and other actions go to Controls -> Multiplayer Controls after you join the server.

To add: In the three streak slots, you can have more than one of a single type. Some people do that to build up their inventory of cars.

However they do not upgrade. If you have three cars, but have an airstrike as a choice and get 5 kills, it wont replace a car and will be ignored. Best to keep track of your kill count so when you get close to the next one, and your slots are full, use one first.
