Just replace the main exe file with a working v1.7 Steam exe and it will work again. Update/No Update as of 4/17/19: For those who tuned in late, @J3st3r's fix above is the solution for Windows, Mac users do not need it at all as they are still limited to ver 1.7 on Steam or the Mac App Store. I dont usually use my steam copy,,i use the disc one, So now i go into servers and cant,, i cagAN ERROR OCCERED WHILE READING THE STSTAS DATA, YOUR STATS HAVE BEEN RESET. but i cant log into any servers,,that all it gives me. When I installed the game from steam I was on this weird 1.8 version. I went to search for a server for the first time, there were a bunch of servers named "CoD4 1.7 downgrade", "downgrade v1.7", "MORE SERVERS v1.7" etc. So I just clicked on one and boom fixed. I guess other server owners have cleverly been on the case already! There were only maybe 3/4 servers for the 1.8 version. I expect then that most people see the server list and do as I did.
