Unable to create profile

I am trying top help @Mightymike1 and his game is in a endless create profile loop...I have created the "player" folder and the "profile" folder plus the active.text file with his name in it...

Is it possible that someone could give us a copy of their player config_mp and we can change everything around in it...I think that should work ?

Loader, here's a copy of my config.  Note that there are binds in it for demo recording which use the F11 key.  I don't use steam much for anything so not sure what's all different but also in the CD version game, there is also a mpdata file in the player profile folder but not sure if the steam version uses this.  Good luck.

He is not using a Steam version at this time...I am not sure about the mpdata file though so might need it...Looks like the mpdata file stores your rank - I googled it

Thank you for your help as im not a Cod5 guy...I do have it on my gaming rig which is still put up lol

I had some of the same problem a few times .

i try to log on it say unable to connect a bit , then i go online . and my profile is resetted like at beginning at rank 1.

i didnt loose any of the mods and maps only my profile resetted at 1.

After doing all the rank up by playing couple of times i checked how and what to save to keep a profile back-up in case .

i did have a profile back-up on my HDD so i can copy the 2 configs and map files on my local activision profile.

mp_data I think keeps your favorites and such. So if there is one there remove it to your deasktop the game should build a new one.  I'm not sure what you mean by loop ? Have you tried to create a dummy name say like " gruffgyt " to make sure the master server does not already have everything he has tried ?

@Labob every time you put a profile name in (any name) and hit next it just loops right back to create a profile name over and over...So I checked his folders and created what I know to be missing except for the Config_mp.cfg which I did not have a copy of one....Some where in my head I seem to remember you have to create a single player profile 1st but his disk is jacked up

I dont have those files,,weird,,I just have the orignal config file

the profile backup file is in your computer got to enable to see hidden files.

then go in  user/appdata/local/activision/codwaw/players/profile/

@loaderXI You should be fine creating a new profile in MP I just tried it out. The active.txt file is going to be the last profile you use. It changes everytime you change your profile choice. All the files inside your profile should be made from the game. I would try deleting all the profiles and start from sctrach. I at this time always like to remind people that a good fix is deleteing teh whole game and reinstalling. Say total time 1 hour to do. If your spending more than an hour to fix a problem well I hope it because ya love fixing the problem.  ( going th elong route is how I figured out a lot about the files in WAW can be fun )

That is just it...I love to help folks solve problems as such and in his case he can not currently reinstall (bad disk)...I have taken Cod2 and Cod4 apart enough to know what is and ain't there but not so much with Cod5...Thank you for checking on this yourself because that is awesome and makes it all the more worth the effort when others can give input and help solve the issue...A main reason why I love this family...

also i fogot name of security installer activsion used, needs to be update for thinks is a virus and file not read

@Crusher know how to make new profiles,,he did it for us all when we were mods.
