Maybe the sharks have taste, buddy? I don't know, just askin'. Maybe the sharks are allergic to toxins? Still wonderin'. I was swimming off the beach offa Waimai Bay in Oahu, trying to get back to my wife, son, and daughter, about 500 yards (450 "metres," if you're @RobMc or @Athena). Unbeknownst to me, the prevailing currents run east-to-west, so I was being drawn out in the ocean. I was so busy taking underwater pics of the silvery fish swimming next to me that I didn't check my bearing. When I finally stopped to see where I was, thinking that I shoulda been close, I was about 500 yards off-shore. I looked around--no one within 300 yards of me--and looked down, and all I saw was black. I started turning around looking for shark fins, and started swimming for life, imagining that the sharks were circling below, eyeing their next feast. I'm 6'1" tall and about 230 lbs., kinda chunky, but I "hold it well." When people say "Fat floats in salt water," it's a lie. Even with a lung-full of air, I still sink like the proverbial stone, so I have to actively swim. When I finally felt sand underneath my feet, I stood there, hands on knees, breathing heavily, and my ex-wife came up to me and said "Paul, where have you been?" I pointed out to the ocean and said, "Holy crap, I was way out there!!" She said, non-chalantly, "Oh, I was wondering where you were." Those sharks woulda feasted for at least a coupla weeks. Lol. Essentially there was an update to the website that had to be applied as it had security fixes but bundled a load of other changes... The update broke allot of things - one of them being the back end of the site so I could not actually get in and do stuff. Obviously I had to rollback. Then began the saga with the external support where I was told to break the site again so they could see. Then some bullshit about them needing FTP access.. which we don't use so that sucked. Ended up having to debug myself and give them additional information to be told they had removed a functionality and one of our addons was causing the issue. Since I have been trying to fix the storage for files on the site - I need to do that so I can redo the themes and upgrade them to hopefully fix the rest. Duc2 points -
So I deal with software and various applications all day and night, but just couldn't figure out Teamspeak (no patience) and then bam! I clicked on the link to open my TS app and voila! I have full mic and audio. It was a blast and took Freezetag to a whole new level, or as it's said in the South, "whole nother". LOL! Happy to be gaming with you fine folks and thanks for all the thaws and fun....peace, out! \m/1 point

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the >XI< Moms!1 point -
Mother's Day Is Mother's Day an invention of the Nazis? Clearly no. The Encyclopædia Britannica (1959, vol. 15, p. 849) already locates the origin of today's mothers' days in antiquity at a feast "derived from the tradition of the cult of the ancients in ancient Greece". Another religious forerunner of modern Mother's Day: At the time of the English King Henry III. (1216-1239) Sunday Laetare, also the fourth Sunday in Lent, was celebrated as a so-called "Mother's Sunday". Although the "Mother Church" was celebrating on this date above all itself. Nevertheless, it was quickly naturalized that the faithful on this day also did something good to their birth mother. Let flowers speak In 1905, the American Anna Jarvis discovered the idea for a "Mother's Day". That they have calculated this plan was mentioned only marginally. After all, the Mother's Day in 1914 for the US State Day and came across England, Norway and Sweden in the 20s also to Austria and Germany. Here it was - unsurprisingly - the "Association of German flower shop owners", the propagation of the festival propelled. However, the florists attached the greatest importance to the fact that they were exclusively concerned with the "honoring of the mother". But it was not until the Nazis, especially the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Volksgesundung, used the age-old idea for their own purposes. In the mothers they saw above all the "births, Aryan national comrades", devoted themselves to the Mütterweihespielen and rewarded their "services" by the award of the Mother Cross. After 1945, the spook was over and Mother's Day slowly took on those forms in which even today is still celebrated.1 point

What Are You Listening To Today?
AngerIssues reacted to JohnnyDos for a topic
What I see as the difference between music back then vs. the "music" today is back then you truly had to sing very well to sell records. Today, they can overpower the vocals with LOUD instruments or they can play repetitive background music and talk to sell records. To an old-timer like myself it's just plain pitiful. No auto tune here folks. Just pure talent. Something that seems to be lost in today's singers.1 point -

Lost Signature
baldie reacted to Sitting-Duc for a topic
Yeah so @Labob has hit the nail on the head. Essentially we have a really old file store that was imported from the old site and then merged with a load of inline uploaded images. This has been a really big issue with updating the site and requires me to manually configure the file store after each update. The site developers are releasing frequent updates which makes it harder for me. So.. for the past 4 - 6 months I have been migrating away from that file store and moving the images to a more organised store. With hundreds of thousands of images that has taken a fair bit of time. I am now left with a load of 'bastard' images with no parents. These I have temp disabled to study the impact. It generally on the older posts and some signatures for people who have not updated recently. As to how to proceed. If you could ideally re-upload your signatures then that would be the best issue. Depending on the impact will depend on what I do to fix them.1 point -
