One of my income sources is inspecting weld quality of various Ford truck frames at a facility that manufactures them from rolls of steel coil. They taught me how to weld, then placed me in the department whose sole job is to take them apart. Which can be tricky depending on the weld & it's location within the frame. Which involves finding, marking, cutting... then grinding + polishing the weld to prep it for measurement & evaluation of its various features. I like measuring. It's air-conditioned. Cutting with the plasma torch in this fucking heat... not so much. Fat boi becoming slim Tim; literally melting the pounds off of me.8 points

Old Joke A young Timmah is walking along the street and he sees a welders mask. So the kids excited and he picks it up and puts it on. He plays with the eye visor, flipping it up and down, puts his arms out and makes engine noises. Just then a guy in a van comes along and says "hey kid, you want a ride?" Timmah thinks why not so he gets in the van. As they're driving the guy says to the kid "hey kid, do you know what masturbation is?" The kid says no. The guy says "hey kid, do you know what dry humping is?" The kid says no. The guy then says "hey kid do you know what a blow job is?" Timmah finally looks at the guy and says "hey mister, I gotta tell you, I'm not really a welder, I'm gonna work at Fords" ps Where's this fishing video ?4 points -

Simple, quick, easy. Especially after a long day. I cook my yard bird to an internal temp. of 140F - 155F max, depending on it final destination: Chicken salad...145F... served hot... 140-145F depending again on what I'm making... Interestingly, during my readings, I've found Auguste Escoffier appeals best to my sensibility of keeping it simple. A few ingredients done reasonably well; each clearly enjoyed, not crowded-out in a profusion.2 points

...and it's the best-selling truck in the United States over the past 40 years or so... moreover, it's the best selling vehicle, period over the past 40 years. Either that's high praise for the price point value, or an indictment of American sensibility. (you see why I'm paving the road to hell with good intentions; when it's my week to mark & cut, that 100+ F heat in that closed-circuit respirator takes it out of you...even at the spry age of 50. I've got 1/2 a terabyte of pics & video accumulated over the past 2 years.) Now that it's my week to rotate to the AIR-CONDIt0NED measuring room, I might be able to toss-out the occasional dogging video. https://youtu.be/AULOC--qUOI?t=312 points

I had a similar job years ago in the QC dept of a foundry checking castings and weld repairs to them. Looking for gas bubbles and cracks. Every pour had test parts that I got to destroy for testing hardness and strength, much fun was had.1 point -

Was a ummmm different weekend for sure
Dark Asylumn reacted to StormCrow for a topic
This weekend was a slightly different weekend from your normal weekend, Saturday we did the Celebration Of Life for my Dad who passed back in February, buncha family ad friends over and shared stories and laughs and a final goodbye Then Sunday comes along and I met my Son who is 29 tomorrow and I have not seen since he was about 1 year old and also got to meet my Granddaughter for the very first time! Little quick backstory, I was a shitty teen, in and out of trouble with the law, kicked outta my house, kicked outta school, got my girlfriend at the time pregnant, I was 17, she was 16, I went to jail for 1 year when she was 3 months pregnant, got out, got into more trouble almost right away and back into jail for 9 months. She had enough and took him and started a life without me, TOTALLY Understandable, I harbor no ill will to her at all, she made the best choice she could being 17 and with a child. My life was in shambles. I moved out of that town to the town I live in now, got into drugs, ended up in jail another time. I was about 22 or so by the time I got my shit together and realized it was not the life I wanted to live if I wanted to see 30. I asked around about him and her to a few mutual friends and found out she was married and had a couple more kids with a guy and that Jessie (my son) was being raised to believe that this other guy was his father, he was doing great in school, was set in a life and I spoke with my parents and came to the conclusion it would not be right to disrupt his life at that developmental age and if things were ment to be then things would happen in their time Well I guess his grandfather spilled the beans about 7 years ago to him and he found me on Facebook. We have been talking for the last 7 years, getting to know each other, I always told him the ball was in his court as to when or if he would like to meet up in person, and fully explained everything that went on and told him it was all my doing and his Mother just did what she thought was best. We did the 23 and Me DNA matching ad it all came back that he was mine (His Mom still claims it wasnt me, so, for peace of mind for him and I we did it at his request) well we finally met up this weekend! afterwards he sent me a text saying that for 29 years he has felt like the black sheep of the family and in 1 afternoon my family made him feel so at home and natural, yeah I may have gotten dust in my eye at that Here is me and my son Jessie James Funny thing is, i toss on a Metallica tank top and my leather vest to go and meet him, wife shakes her head, I say "Hey, he is meeting ME, the real ME" He shows up, wearing a Metallica tank top too, we both just started laughing then hugged and here is my most adorable 4.5 year old Granddaughter Alivia She loves heavy music like he Dad and Granddad I was told, so, I got her a stuffed Ozzy Ozbourne bat, the head has velcro and comes off, she absolutly loved it!!!! So yeah, a pretty decent weekend1 point -

You are a good man despite your misguided ways that I am sure most of us has had...You did the best thing and now it has come full circle...A persons heart knows there is a reason to search and even a question to ask...Yes some years were lost but you own every tomorrow so now you can live them as father and best part Grandpa... Thanks for sharing and jacking up every ones eyeballs...Just what I needed @ 7am and good read and damp eyeballs...Cheers my brother !1 point -
You know what @StormCrow your story got to me (I must have got some of that dust in my eyes!). Seriously I could not be more happy for you. I am thrilled you reconnected with your son after all those years and got to meet your Granddaughter. Thanks for sharing your story....all of it. You're a really good dude.1 point
