I have a fresh 12 pound turkey to cook for Thanksgiving. Do I use the oven bag method which I am sure of and have used for a number of years. Or attempt to cook it in my Ronco Rotisserie which says it can handle up to a 15 pound turkey. Any suggestions? And does anyone have any suggestions for something different for stuffing? Trash Can - No seriously we use a trash can. A new one of course. Let me explain. . . . when we go camping we take our bird and put it on a stake (kinda a pitch fork style) and cover it with a metal trash can. We surround the outter rim with coals and cover the bottom of the upsidedown can with coals as well (not too many). I'll have to look it up but we have a chart for how many hours according to the size of the bird. Its golden when she's finish and alway's so tender it falls apart. It frees the oven up for other things I cook. Like stuffing, rolls, and I'm also cooking a ham this year. In your stuffing, you can add things to it like dried cranberries, nuts, raisins, etc. Makes for a nice change every now and then. I make mine homemade, starting with cornbread and then adding sage and what ever I want . Something else that's good is to make a plain cheesecake, then top it with pineapple, it's really good and different from the normal cherry cheesecake that I make sometimes.
