I was asking Nacho that question. That is a huge amout of meat. I wouldn't be too cool to kill an animal just for its skin or trophy. I've hunted for over forty years and never shot an animal that wasn't eventually consumed.

I shot the bear with dogs in a nasty canyon so had some help getting him out of there. Skinned him out and just the hide with the head attached was around 100lbs, about killed me getting him out. Quartered him up and off to the butch and taxidermist. Bear deep pit and salami. Having a wall mount rug made out of him should get it back in about a year. By california law you have to take the meat out, not sure why you would want to kill any kind of big game or alot of small game and not eat it. Don't much care for trophy hunting but love me some bear and deer meat.

Bear is all about what the bear eats. I hope your bear ate a lot of berries Nacho. :) That's a fine animal - nice work!

Won't it be hard to get the vacuum cleaner up on the wall to clean the rug?

Awesome. I can see how bringing your bear out must have been really difficult. Calling you a big game hunter is an understatement.

Congrats.

Hunting with dogs has been an american tradition for years. Only 20 percent of bear hunters use dogs and kill percent of the bear quota each year. The banning of dogs is going to do nothing but cause problems with a huge incline of black bears and sooner or later you will have black bears coming into your town where your kids play. Oregon and Washington did it now they have a over populated black bear problem and are handing out depredation tags left and right. The use of dogs is not animal cruelty, it's a way to control a population. Too many tree huggers out there that don't understand that.

why do humans think they have to control everything we over populate this world and ruin it so now we have to control a animal was in this area before we ever got here...sorry no tree huger but dont like the dog hunting seen it fla to many time run deer to death and the owners of the dogs never came and got the dear.......you take the risk if you live in a area were there are bears if you dont like the risk move..im a hunter myself but i do not trophy hunt i hunt for the meat.....

Bears can overpopulate and become dangerous. I am glad it was at least used for more than just a trophy.
