I noticed that one of the changes made to the MW2 server was making the Hardwired perk way too overpowered. It already protects you from RC-XD cars, allows you to eavesdrop enemy voice chat, and prevent you from being emp'd. All that is fine, but the change affects when you don't use it. If you don't use it, and you get emp'd, you cannot defrost people far away, only by direct body contact. Meanwhile, perks like Stopping Power are useless. Armor Piercing pierces armor and has what Stopping Power should do. I can rant on about other perks, like how Hunter Killer and Stealth are both Perk 3 (RIP Stealth Snipers), but that's a different argument. Hardwired is broken. I do like the increased spawn protection in Combat Medic though. Rant over.

No matter what I do, something will be popular with some but unpopular with others. So in the end I do what is best for the game. The EMP anti-defrost function is new and we shall see how it goes. Currently the radius for that aspect of it is probably a little too big. It will take time to see how it affects game play and to find the right balance.

 

Stopping power works just as it was intended. Whether its regenerating juggy (overpowered) or limited body armor (much more fair). Choices. Do you want SP that packs the greater punch? Or do you want AP that is specifically made to pierce all armor, both personal and vehicle? Perks have been moved around here and there over time to allow popular choices while avoiding combinations that might be too unfair. Stealth snipers belong in dedicated sniper servers on big open maps. Shame this clan cant get a regularly filled sniper server.

Sammy, did you decide whether to return the spawn protection after using a perk to 8s, or will it be left at 4s? Definitely changed gameplay a bit. You used to be able to thaw a teammate in this time, but now you appear before they are fully thawed.

 

Had an idea, but I highly doubt anything will come of it, just curious. Would there be any way to create a perk or add to body armour say a knife proof function? Maybe like 70/30 chance of dying/staying alive after being knifed. It would make an interesting anti-Turk perk lol.

It was supposed to be 4 seconds after using a streak, so dont know why it was the usual 8. However I leave that number up to the discretion of the admins to talk among themselves and decide what to do. Whichever number they agree on will be the setting.  There are already enough crybabies about the knife. I have no desire to get into that can of worms. :sofa:

Just curious. There was a thread going here on the forums.... I believe it was titled "Binds" where we were discussing the ability to jump and turn into a car. It seems to have been deleted. Has this forum turned into some sort of Ministry of Truth, where any controversial topics are considered Thoughtcrime?

I'm sorry to complain so much, but I just think Hardwired was fine as it was. Not being able to defrost at range when you're one of the last ones left is very frustrating. I was the last person left on my team yesterday and I could see a teammate across the map, but I was emp'd and couldn't defrost or use my car. Having to wait 30 seconds for the emp to wear off seems a bit long. I like the Tactical mask perk, and I've always wished it could prevent being emp'd, just like it prevents the other secondary nade effects.

That's a consideration also since ftag rules dont always translate well to tdm. EMP spam isnt a good thing. Another reason why its 30 seconds and not 60. I dont want to make 16 to 1 matchups harder than it already is. Although... remember what it was like before the car or uav defroster.  :lol:

 

If your team doesnt have very many left and you are being spawn camped, combat medic with its 12 seconds of spawn protection is quite useful.  Add 3X EMP defrost nades, lightweight and objective, its a pretty good 'team defroster' loadout. Potentially better than the car depending on the map and how far apart your teammates are. But you give up lots of other 'offensive' goodies.

Yea but those were bugs and just silly. *IF* I were to do something like that it would be a variation on the player controlled reaper but you defrost instead of shoot rockets. I did the UAV defroster instead. EXCEPT.... nobody told me it was disabled!!!!! I forgot I did that. I think it was due to some kind of problem that was causing script errors. Maybe related to shooting at it. I dont remember. I also dont remember if I fixed it but forgot to reenable it. Huh.

UAV defroster was very  effective. Actually that sounds like a great idea. A reaper that can't be shot down and be able to use it for defrosting. Also, that it stays in air a little longer say 45 seconds. It could however be shot down by TURRETs.

I remember the Uav defroster being disabled, I just thought it was because it was so effective and was only a 4 killstreak. The defrosting reaper sounds cool.

If it was too effective or unfair, for a 4-kill, then it would be a matter of tweaking it. Maybe cut down its detection range so it cant defrost all the way across the map. Like is done for sentryguns.

The problem with the uav defroster was that after it was shot down it would still continue to defrost.
