computer speakers

Any recommendations for somewhat small footprint computer speakers that are used more for music (not streaming tho) than games. Dont have room for a sub woofer. They dont have to shake the room but enough bass so that they dont sound like an ipod. Also, reasonably priced not $300. I currently am using an old pair of Yamaha speakers that have served me well with pretty good sound just no bass to them. I like my headphones but there are times I prefer regular speakers.

for the price they are great and don't take a lot of room .sub will put out a bic lighter with the bass..

Most small speakers need th sub to have any decent sound.  I use the Bose speakers and the sound great. But have a sub

i have 3 on top of my desk 2on each side of the monitor and the sub on the floor

desk is 44" long and 24" wide.

Those pictures keep missing the point. I only have room for two desktop speakers. Not asking for miracles just something where they have at least as much clarity as my headphones.

What do you play on with a desk top PC? Just go to any store and buy a pair of stereo speakers then.Most of us here have a 5.1 system,I believe.My speakers are small but I have a sub woofer also and that goes on the floor.You must have some room with a desk top pc?

okay sammy how big is the box you play in .send a pitcher so we can see ...i mean shit mine are in a 4 by 2 space .. i mean the room is only 8 by 10 and there is the kids pc in here too .so let us see the size of the place you want them..

Does it really matter if the subwoffer is directly at your feet or off to one side of the desk?

No. A good subwoofer will work at your feet.  My Bose sub is back up against the wall at my feet out of the way and unseen

I would recommend Logitech , I have 5.1 surround sound system about 10 years and still works perfect with no problems and they normally come with 3/5 year warranty

Also a good Subwoofer will be able to drop to a very low freaquency.  What a lot of companies sell now in true technical terms does not qualify as a subwoofer by true standards. The term Bass module is more accurate to as what they are.

Can't go wrong here.. I have a set of 4.1 Logitech that are at least 15 plus years old and will literally rock my whole house..

Could always mount other speakers on wall! have a cinema surround system ,monitor sit on top of the sound system, surround speakers 2 on wall.sub on floor,2 front ones were under monitor yes do get moaned at sometimes thundering through floor lol  hers pic of mine ok desk is massive but gives you an idea,what can be done....and bought off flea bay  in uk for roughly $60.....used to use the Logitechs like above but seem to burn the amp out after few yrs,this has been more reliable and better sound,and is optical connection for better sound[if your sound card has it]

Putting the monitor on a platform of some sort and center speaker under it is a good idea also.

I have these and have NO ROOM for them on my desk. theyn sit behind my monitors and sound great. Sub is in the corner to the left of my desk out of the way.

4 years running them and they still sound great when I use them for videos or music.
