Plan on around 70 bucks for uber - more for taxi. Air train from the airport to Jamaica station is the cheapest. However, it takes forever, it's hot and sweaty, and smells kinda bad. Welcome to new York!

Ahhh it aint THAT bad, at least from the water.

was fishing the south end of manhattan a few hours ago. Thats the verinzano bridge in the fog at about 4 while my wife took my daughter to a very nice lunch and (omg) shopping trip for her birthday.  True i wouldn't want to live in the city but i’m close enough to play in it. Its got a lot to see and offer.

Couldn't get the stripers to bite but marked a shitload

So true. It's like a musty ASS/B.O and urine smell. On humid day you can totally taste it.

Hey, @Elvis9--you gotta check out Times Square at nighttime--preferably after midnight.

It abso-frickin'-lutely comes alive at nighttime.  You'll meet people from all over the world.  And the street performers are awesome.

Stay away from the hot dog vendors unless you like to spend "vacation time" straddling the porcelain throne.

The U.S.S. Enterprise is a worthy visit:  it's got the SR-71 Blackbird on it, lots of other planes, and for $20 extra, you can see the Space Shuttle.

Lots to do.  Take the train to Coney Island; we were lucky enough to ride the "Cyclone" before it got destroyed in a hurricane the next year.

You have to go to the Empire State Building, but expect to wait 2 hours in line before you actually get to go out and take in the views.

DON'T go to China Town; the vendors dump their unsold seafood down the sewer grates, so it spells awful.

Have fun.  Take a $100 horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park.

Lots to do.

Don't rent a car--those damn New York (and New Jersey, mostly) drivers are absolutely insane.

You'll love it.  Ayaq

You gotta watch out for TBB trying to run up behind you to electro-scan your wallet for credit card info.

Take a folded 3" x 7" strip of aluminum foil and place it inside the lining of your wallet--TBB hates those because his scanner was made in the Czech Republic, and not Uzbekistan.

Lol.

You're gonna have fun.  I love the crowds.  Ayaq is a "social beast."

And Ayaq likes the third-person context . . .

Still lol-ing.

Lol, Yaccie--get the de-contamination suits ready . . .

Or, at the very least, make sure your stun-gun is fully charged.
