Two years ago bought a Dell XPS 630i with dual GTX9800s. It constantly locked up with SLI enabled - there are dozens of such complaints on this system at Dell's support forums. I replaced the power supply, HD, both GPUs, upgraded OS, reinstalled OS, disabled onboard sound and put in a sound card - all in response to various suggestions; also dicked with voltage to various components, swapped memory, etc., all to no avail.

So just for shits&grins I e-mailed Dell to complain and they responded that I had done son on the very last day of my warranty - I thought the warranty had expired after a year. So then sent a tech by for a mobo replacement which didn't fix the problem. Just got an e-mail from them that they're replacing this two-year-old system with an Alienware Aurora. Don't know what model it will be but with an Aurora, doesn't really matter. It's gonna scream.

The moral of this tale is never give up. Pretty generous of Dell as well.

Thanks guys - plus, the GeForce 9800s I replaced went to WiZiD, and they are the GPUs in the latest gaming rig he's giving away on this forum. So I'm pleased with that as well.

Ha great job mate it just shows if you never give up somthing good will come lol.

But also think of it this way because of the good service they have given you you will now like so many others recomend Dell. The best form of advertising they can get almost free of charge whats a computer to them when they get great word of mouth praise from a satisfied customer. Very smart on their part and fair play to them for putting the customer first not many companys do now a days.

I got an Alienware, and was having continuous problems with my 2 8800 Ultra's SLI'd.  They kept burning out.  I called Tech support (which is now Dell!!!!!!!!) who weren't really interested.  It took me 1 month of continuous complaints, but they replaced them with 2 brand new 295 GTX's.

 

As you said Harry, never give up.
