I just got a portable Ham Radio for Christmas. Would like to do it, but have yet to get my license.

I have another Ham Radio from a pickup I got years ago. The previous owner had left it installed. Thinking I can connect it up to house voltage and make it a "base station".

Anyways, a new hobby for me to become involved with.

Ham Radio for a ham...? I like it...

Like loader mentioned Sinbad is into it.  Good guy outside of game.  But loves to kill during games.  But he seems to very active with it and has always seemed very open to discussing it with others at times during game.

way to go, yep, we need things like that you never know... strange times :(  Russia, China, North Korea, old Yugoslavian countries, Belarus, on and on, heck even issues in SOUTH AMERICA are going on.  HAM radio is one of those old fashioned, opps maybe we need it cause this happened, sort of handy devices that come in handy if/when needed.  And, learning Morse Code, other languages, having hard copies of everything important in a fire safe, etc. etc. etc. doesn't hurt now does it?  Bug out bag - keep one, why not? https://www.mddionline.com/rd/how-survive-zombie-apocalypse   :hi: and this -->  https://bugoutbagacademy.com/free-bug-out-bag-list/  :secret:

Hi Cooper,  Sorry that I am late getting back to you on your ham radio that you received for Christmas.  What type of radio is it?  VHF?  HF?  What is the brand name and model number of your radio?  You can easily get your Technician Class FCC license by studying for the test.  There are plenty of "online" courses with questions and answers that you need to know for the test.  I have been a ham operator for the last 26 years or so and can tell you that it is a very enjoyable hobby.  You don't have to know morse code anymore to become a ham.  My callsign is N3YQA.  I occasionally get on the air using morse  code, voice and digital modes.   Also, what type of radio is in the pick-up truck?   Is it a CB radio or a ham radio?.   Let me know if you become a ham.

Take Care Cooper,

LUKE144    (Scott)
