I just wanted to say I had an outstanding time.  Thanks to everyone who showed up. And to everyone who made it possible.  I do want to say to the tarantula that it was completely unnecessary  to join us by the fire on our balcony

Tarantulas live in a variety of habitats around the world, including deserts, rainforests, and scrubland: 
 
 
  • Burrows: Tarantulas often live in underground burrows that they line with silk webbing to keep out dirt and sand. 
     
     
  • Ground: Some tarantulas live on the ground under rocks, logs, or tree bark. 
     
     
  • Trees: Some tarantulas live in webbed burrows in trees. 
     
     
  • Caves: Some species of tarantulas live in caves and have adapted to be blind, relying on sensory hairs on their legs to sense their surroundings. 
     
     
  • Crops: Some tarantula species live in crops like bananas and pineapples. 
     
     
Tarantulas are found on all continents except Antarctica, but most are found in South America. Their color and behavior vary depending on their environment. 
 
 
Tarantulas are nocturnal hunters that eat insects, frogs, toads, mice, and small birds. They use their venom to paralyze their prey and then suck up the juices with their mouthparts. While their venom is fatal to their prey, it's only comparable to a bee sting for humans.
