Wow stated digging carrots to get them ready to bottle/can them.this is 45 pounds. I have no idea why I planted this many. I have another 200 pounds in the ground. I just finished 17 five hundred ml jars in the canner. That’s only 15 pounds or so. Mrs Weed and I will do another batch. Called our niece she has 5 kids, we’ll send them a bunch and I’ll dig, clean and deliver a bunch to the soup kitchen. God knows they can use them. I’ll post a picture of the bottles when I take from the pressure canner. Just a friendly reminder if you can help out the food banks and soup kitchens near you please do. Covid has taken its toll on so many folks.5 points

Been number one for about a week now. If you like survival games then you will like this. No mods, but settings lightly tweaked and players seem to like it. Very beginner friendly PVE! with a little conflict.5 points -

I’ve had a garden for years. We’ve bottled and froze our harvest before but now that I’ve decided to retire we see this as a way to become more independent. This takes quite a bit of effort but it is worth it. This is mostly my idea but the Mrs is a real trooper and really sees the benefits. Covid has really impacted our movements. My parents are 88/85 and are in very fragile health. The least amount of time I have to go to the stores the better. I can’t bring COVID to them, it would be a death sentence. At 63 I have no desire to run to the stores for supplies. I buy in bulk everything I require when it comes on sale. One example is butter when it comes on sale I save $2.00 per pound. I buy 40 pounds and save $80 dollars. I just freeze the butter. This is the way my father taught me. We grew up poor and dad saved a buck we ever he could. Sadly the world now is a THROW AWAY WASTEFUL PLACE.3 points

Getting too much for you 'Old Boy' ????? Due to the fact we're not allowed firearms here in the UK (despite killing half the world), a massive airgun industry has grown up here, check out some of the Youtube sites (ignore the commentators), most guys now who are serious buy compressors. Diving bottles and handpumps do the job but are a pain in the ass, the accuracy of some of these weapons is incredible mainly due of course to no recoil.2 points

Canning is the only way I will survive in the future. For some reason I feel my days going to the store are becoming short. What you're doing is what EVERYONE should be doing. You are living my dream. I have plenty of glass, great dirt, land, water, metal for a frame to build a green house so I can grow year round but lacking time right now which is my fault. I should of started 8 years ago! Well done sir. You clearly are smart prepared and thinking outside the box, or was this all your wifes idea if you're married? If so... you both ROCK! Behind every great man is an amazing woman. Then again some men are badasses by design.2 points -

Now I know you're dyslexic but that's 7 foot, 7 stone would be a two year old where you live ?? , I don't know why you don't think I don't know where you are, clean that kitchen. So you can't get tv or radio, you live in a desert, presume your internet is by satellite? You've told us you like to masturbate and we understand, we're getting it loud and clear that you're a wanker? I'm beginning to warm to you, we could have lots of fun, if you send me some rattlesnakes for my buddy EC I'll teach you how to spell. Uncle Rob1 point -

The 3DS is hardly retro, although it's old enough now that they've stopped producing them. Fuck I'm getting old I still have my GameBoy Advance SP, and it does work....can't find the charger though hahaha I always liked that about Nintendo, they're stuff was robust has hell, my N64 is still kicking and remains one of most treasured possessions.1 point -

WeednFeed Harvesting/Bottling Carrots
DrDysl3xia reacted to WeednFeed for a topic
Just go to YouTube. Search any University or Cooperative Extension for canning. It is very important to do as they say. There are 2 types of canning water bath and Pressure canning. Some foods require higher temps.........this must be done with a pressure caner. Some foods will need lemon juice. Also I suggest what ever caner you buy, it is essential to have the manual for that model. Pressure canning is safe but the procedures MUST BE followed exactly. It is also god to know certain food items can better than others. Vegetables types can have certain strains that can better than others. The carrots we caned were not the best for that purpose. I had my first planting get washed out by a thunder storm the day after planting. Due to Covid the seeds I wanted were not available for the replant. Good Luck1 point -
I have an old, from the 60's Benjamin .22 cal pump air rifle. This thing is deadly accurate up to about 40 yards and will kill a squirrel 1 shot. never shot anything else with it. If you use stainless steel pellets, it will shoot through a steel garbage can. Problem is you have to pump 10 times between shots1 point

What's crazy is the price volatility; especially as of the last year... they've been as low as ~$500 & as high as ~$1,000. Unless you're in a rush, give it time to come back down a couple hundred bucks. One of my favorite sites across which I've come is camelcamelcamel.com It's a free price history tracker for Amazon items; all you do is enter the product's url & get a look at the price behavior & how far above or below it's average it currently is priced, as a good measure of whether to buy or wait. At least that's how I use it. Here's the link for the .357 pellet rifle. =P https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B00T9S3OBQ1 point

Yes, I like to work my wood quite often. I'll show myself out. Seriously, 'shop class' in high school was fun, especially the lessons on working leather & wood. Still have that Mahogany cup rack I made when I was 15. Funny thing is: The finishing room, where wood pieces which had been lacquered were placed to dry & cure, had a huge fan in the ceiling to draw out the flammable vapors. Was a great spot to sneak a smoke during class... just flick the cig up when the teach was coming. He was wise to these things. This one girl, who wasn't supposed to be in there, decided to hide in a stand-alone locker when she realized he was looking for her. He knew, somehow, that she was in there. He gestures, grinning, for us to remain silent. He was a huge bear of a guy. He bear hugs the locker & gives it a good shake. She came stumbling out wondering what the fuck just happened, in such a hurry that she ran right into him. That shit was hilarious. The smell of different woods as they're being sawed or routed is something I really enjoy, & can conjure memories of when I or someone else has worked that type of wood in the past.1 point
