frickin' campers

Is it just me or is camping becoming the norm? I really get pissed off with people (I will not mention names) entering a a game only to sit in a corner waiting for someone to pass and be be shot at.

It seems to have become a real new way to play lately and for one I think this is not in the spirit of the game, if I am wrong then shoot me down (pun intended!).

I just do not see the point in joining the XI site only to hide away and snipe and not join in!

Anyway rant over, oh and by the way, the MP44 is a good choice of weapon and obviously not that of the camper!! :-}

but in game-types like free for all or s&d it is just bullocks

I guess I do about half and half. If I can find a good spot and take a few kills, I do it. But I don't stay there long because it doesn't feel right.

That said, I understand what you're saying Mickvette. But I consider it a style of play and if that's what some want to do, I take some pleasure in hunting them down and taking them out.

On the one extreme in COD4 where I see you often, we've got Ron Bacardi who's been on our servers for a long, long time and now is a member. As we all know, Ron was the ultimate camper. And he never scored well on the maps. Now, he's changed his style and is out there shooting it up. Now I see him end a map at number one.

Then there's Mean Dean, who hunts with a knife and is the ultimate runner - he's a blur in there. He gets on my nerves too, but that's his style and that's fine by me - I just try to keep my back to a wall.

I think these varied styles of play add to the gaming experience. If we all just ran and gunned it, it would be quite boring for me. Likewise, if everyone just camps down - and sometimes that happens - there's no game and so I just leave.

Learning to adapt to these various styles makes us a better player I think. And again, if the campers went away entirely, it wouldn't be the same, and it wouldn't be as fun - at least for me.

I understand what you are saying, about the campers and all that, but you also have to understand that its just there style of game play. If you get pissed off at it (i do sometimes to) then just go kill them, and if you havent noticed, they usually get less kills.

I have noticed some people complain about people camping in the Ace Mod and Freeze tag servers.  Personally I do not “camp” with the exception of a couple of freeze tag maps.  But, I do not have a problem with others camping in any game type.  If that is what some people want to do in order to have fun, so be it.  If we say not camping, then I think we take the fun away from others.  I see campers as stationary targets.

 I always go back and kill them. U know where they are.

 Camping....huh...well I believe it,s just part of the game,an ugly part,but a part just the same.Some people take it to a whole new level(you know who you are).I look at campers like a monkey wrench in the machine,every time I,m doing good in a game(almost an air strike or helio )those bastards always get me...grrrrrrr.But when I hunt them down and take them out!!..OH YEAH BABY!.One of my favorite ways is to flush them out with a frag and then when they come running out.......HAMMER DOWN! thx for running into my rounds you campin" BIA!. And I,m sorry but a blind man could use the mp44 and get a good score... oh no am I starting something?...muhahaha. Keep campin" my brothas and I'll find you, it might take me a couple times but ...I WILL GET YOU!!

But isn't that what happens at the end of every FT game?  Securing the opposition spawn so you can freeze the last one?

Camping and Spawn camping 2 different things. Camping is a Strategy. Spawning and backing up a few feet and killing people as they spawn is wrong. Ive seen some draw down on spawn and kill people and all that does is encourage more spawn camping as they go back to kill them etc

I am actually on Mick's side with his distaste for camping.

 

Where we differ is I won't complain, I play here by choice and follow the rules as set by XI.

 

Bottom line, server rules apply, if I did not like the overall good of XI I would play elsewhere.

 

Besides, there is a certain satisfaction in sneaking up behind a camper and stabbing the bugger.

Camping is not my thing, but I get why some do it.  It helps to level the playing field for them.  So I don't have a problem with it.

 

As far as the spawn camping goes, the answer for that is to extend the spawn protection.  Let the spawners run a few seconds to get away from the spawn point.

 

I am not sure why we don't have it in the Ace Mod, as this is my first time ever playing that mod.  Seems like that would help. 

 

The FT servers have good spawn protection already.  Spawn camping is much more acceptable there cause it is how to end the round or game.  The ones that bitch about spawn camping there are the spawners that tend to start shooting instead of getting their asses to a good thawing point.

I hate it myself...but its just like using an rpd and just spammin thru walls...ugh, it irks me.  But just have to deal with it and I will come get u..may take a few times but those 100 rounds or so will run out and then ur ass is mine. Same as camping...I am gonna get u.    But honestly thats why i stopped playin ace mod...............

I have been thinking of perfecting my skills on COD4 & 5 this coming winter. But beware....

 

I love to camp, but I do run and gun. I have to rest these new boobs I have so camping is a nice rest for the pectoralis major...teehee!!!

 

Remember, it is just game...we all have "our styles"...I just love bashing when I get a chance, which I'm sure is the same as knifing on Ace Mod....teehee! :D

I am one that "HATES" campers with a passion, BUT Mick everybody does it at some point or other. I use to get all pissed off and go into a rant and rage until I realized the only person being bothered by my raging was me. Lately when I have had enough and depending how many are playing I will tell them all if they don't come out and play I am leaving the server. As I am the best source for kills they usually start playing, but if they don't I leave.

Bah, there will always be something that pisses you off its human nature, but ima break it down the way i see it. Dont mistake sniping for camping, all wars have snipers, not everyone runs n guns. Everyone hates getting killed, if its a camper that always gets ya then u gunna hate campers, same as spam guns, tubes......rabbits etc. I hate alot in game but its usualy coz some fucker just wasted me and im really pissed off but hey i get over it and still play, we all do. Variety is the spice of life, if everyone was the same and/or did the same thing itd be boring as and my copy of cod4 would end up in the trash next to my copy of MW2. So on that note ima go choke on a blunt and gargle jack daniels. GG.

All playing styles are welcomed on our servers ( see ingame message players are not to be harrassed over their playing style) i think variety is good as in life, if everybody played the same way it would get boring, obviously spawn camping is different that is a nono unless it's freeze tag where it then becomes part of the strategy, one thing i'm seeing creeping in the game lately is ( clever?) players camping just slightly away from a spawn point, at a place where players probably have to move to get out of the spawn ( technically not spawn camping) i personally think this is the wrong thing to do, it's as bad as spawn camping for me......gotta laugh in freeze tag when players start moaning about spawn campers, i wish they would learn how to play first!

I have to say in a lot of the freezetag maps im sniping and there for camping.. But doing camping with a sniperrifle also includes A LOT of defrosting.. when im sitting in the back of a map im covering people and more or less trying to make sure that my team will win. and here i said TRYING!! hahahahaha.. also when you are sitting in the back of a map you can also give good intell to your teammates.. i do believe thats also a huge part of the freezetag game??
