Product Update - Valve

Updates to Call of Duty: Black Ops have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Call of Duty: Black Ops

• Improved threading performance on computers with only 2 cores.
  
• Additional performance optimizations
  
• Added an option to pre-cache all shaders during load time. This fixes hitching related to shader compiling on some video cards when viewing an area of the map for the first time. 
  
• Fixed random freezes in certain computer configurations. 
  
• Allow Team Change on Ranked servers when it does not unbalance teams (this is a server admin option).
  
• Allow Team Change grace period at start of match (server admin option).
  
• Added 4 more reserved slots (server admin option)
  
• Added /connect
  
• Improved quickmatch results (server side change)
  
• Fix for watching films through Combat Record 
  
• Fixed compassSpectatorsSeeEnemies exploit
  
• Fixed 3rd person fov exploit
  
• Fix for infinite supply drop exploit.
  
• Fixed crosshair flickering when stereo is active.
  
• Various spawn improvements
  
• Various sound improvements
  
• Fix for Zombies – Teammate shadows not displayed properly.
  
• Fix for radar not staying on in One in the Chamber when it should.
  
• In a Domination match, the Position Secured medal is no longer delayed.
  
• 'Hardened: Equipment Shot' Challenge can now be completed by destroying a 'Camera Spike'.
  
• Fix for choppy final killcam in dedicated servers.
  
• Various map glitches fixed.
  
• Weekly and Monthly leaderboards will now track all kills, deaths and assists properly (All Time leaderboards were not affected by this)
  
• Added mixed hardcore playlist
  
• Added mixed barebones playlist
  
• Added 12 player versions of all playlists
  

Rcon

• Reduced timeout values. Connect (or failure to connect is faster). 
  
• Added all white-listed dvars for Ranked and Unranked. Admins have rcon access to ALL available dvars.
  
• Added Settings and Console tabs for Ranked servers. 
  
• Fixes a bug where the “Server” tab doesn’t update values when connecting to a new server.
  
• Added version number to the title bar.
  
• Fixed a bug where UI state didn’t persist after switching to another server.
  
• Added “disconnect” button.
  
• Fixed map “set” to not use admindvar.
  
• Changed all dvars which could be possibly float, to float. Mostly these are time-type dvars.
  
• Fixed bug where entering a value of zero for Message Duration would cause a unhandled exception error.
  
• Truncated all message fields to 140 chars.

Great, Steam updated but when I try to start Black Ops it say's "Completeing Instalation then says "

Incomplete Installation (10)Steam servers are busy. Please try again later.

Incomplete Installation (20)Steam servers are unreachable. This may mean Steam is experiencing technical difficulties.

Is this for console or PC?

My brother got the update yesterday for PS3 and totally borked his setup. After about two minutes of play they get a "host migration" and never restarts the game. Takes about 5 mins to re-enter a game, rinse and repeat. I'll stick to the PC with better graphics and dedicated servers.

This patch is not intended to make the servers more stable, that is suppose to be the next patch which will be server side, this one is Client side that is why you have to download it.

Agreeed with wanted.  The reserve slots kick anyone randomly.  Which could be xi member or even xi admin in there to settle a problem.  We need to have a admin get you in to the server you want in.  That way no one that is a member is kicked.

NO MORE LAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I played a little last night and this morning.  I did not notice any lag.  I even played on a full FFA server with a ping over 100 and no lag.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

yes last night the lag was a lot better ..now if we can play the day with out the dam game running out of gas and running off the road and crashing in to the trees ..but soon it might work for the whole day ..i hope ..i like the game ..when you shot a person you kill them ..waw you put 70 shells in the person and they keep coming at you ..just wish the maps were bigger ...and you could get on more stuff to fight from ..like a roof or 2

Is there any way to verify that the patch has been downloaded and applied?

As far as I can see, nothing has changed here - the game froze up as it always has when I played today.

I don't know whether the patch has been applied and not fixed what I'd hoped or hasn't been applied and I still have a broken

version of the game...

I have solved the above query.  The patch had NOT come down automatically and I had to force this update by verifying the integrity of the local game cache.  During this process, the update was triggered.

 

So, what are my impressions now that the patch has been applied?

 

Ladies and gentleman, I can honestly confirm that this game is the worst pile of steaming shit I have purchased in recent years!

 

It no longer freezes up after three games but three minutes of play!

 

Don't expect to see me playing it any time soon...

 

I'm returning to CoD: WaW and Crysis Wars!

This patch certainly seems to have improved my server browser list.

 

With my filters set I used to get a max of 32 servers , I am now getting over 220

Well Im Glad that Patch wasnt for the Servers..... Cause I think we should Rename our clan     CI       connection interuption...

 

I still only ci on XI servers.......
