You thought I was going to say modern didn't you? Honestly you really, really did, didn't you? Dean, I could never guess what pearls of wisdom you were going to impart, though it was very unusual that it didn't include a graphic description of where you are going to stick that blade of yours! The city does now have some futuristic structures like The Gherkin and The Shard but, in my opinion, they would be more at home in Berlin or Dubai. I like the little historic gems that can still be found if one knows where to look. Check out The Blackfriar pub, for example here: http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/theblackfriarblackfriarslondon/ Ye Olde Mitre is another one (est. 1546) and the land on which it stands used to be, technically, part of Cambridge: http://yeoldemitreholburn.co.uk/ There is still a "beadle" charged with keeping watch over the area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ely_Place Awards

If you zoom in the picture stays incredible=y sharp. When my wife and I visited a few years ago, we stayed at a small hotel not too far from the wheel and the Parliament. The next hotel was very close to the Tower Bridge, and I forget where the 3rd was. I can't wait to get back there someday. I spent almost a full day in the Natural History Museum. I could have spent a month, but my wife had other ideas... Awards
