My problems on COD 5 servers!!!!

Over the last several months I have had my share of lag problems caused from a variety in game and between me and the server. I have recently changed over to Windows 8.1 and there has been a remarkable change on my end. I also bought a much better gaming router and that really helps too. The older one was bought because the one before that just totally gave out. There are two band eating machines in my house and they demand the best of data flow to run smooth. I know that there were upgrades to the server in Dallas and that seems to have helped a lot too. Tho when some of the high ping players come into the server and I still see it all around me and I still can't effectively kill them.  It's not all of them but there are about 4 or five of them that run through most all of us local players. I love playing against them but when it's not an even playing field I believe something is wrong! I do not pretend to know what but definitely wrong!  Here is why I say it's not on my end:

Well Dean we could set the max ping to 250 instead of 300 but we wouldn't be able to play with the people from Australia, and I wouldn't mind telling them why. LOL

I don't know I'm trying to think of the Australian players we have. The German players would have no effect.

I get 260 most days with a 125mb down 3mb up cable fibre connection. Our other Australian players have 280-310. Dropping your max ping should only affect the Australian players with bad internet.

Anyway...  Dean, your game is behaving normally from what I can see.  There may be tweaks in that new router that you've not done, but I doubt it's an issue.  Personally, I just rack it up to the fact that my reflexes just are not as sharp as some other players.  It's that simple.  You may have to just acquiesce to your inherent limitations as a human being.  You're not the game god you think you are.  Neither am I.  You knife my ass repeatedly.  Given a knife only, I would finish last every time!  I've seen you walk away in first place using that strategy.  IDK.  You're doing as well as could be expected.

 

And, btw, cutting ping limits to 250 would exclude Panzergirl for sure.  She pretty consistently runs the 280+ ping line.

.I don't want to exclude anyone! Especially Panzergirl  she is awesome and very fun and challenging for me to knife! I just wanted to see if there is a way to tighten the screws without excluding other players but I guess not. I am happy with the way I am running so I think I will try another gun and see if that makes a difference with effectiveness! And I agree there isn't anyway possible I am the number one player what with all the great players we have playing here! I do think it's very funny that their equation gives a run n gun old fart like me that position. Tell ya what I will start camping and see how long I remain at the top! lmao!!@!!

It is fun to experiment with other guns and unfamiliar perks.  There are lots of styles of play, too.  Some work better than others for any given person.  Most of all, don't sweat it and have FUN!!!

We get 200gb for $130 AUD a month, not sure how that stacks with your deals. That is fibre connection.

 

i just did a local speed test but we must have some traffic coz it didnt quite reach its top dollar.

When I switched to Charter Business, I was offered (and accepted) an 80 down, 5 up pl,an.  Due to some bundling issues, it actually worked to my advantage to take the 80x5 plan, which is the highest speed plan they offer.  Immediately after I installation, I needed to do some large file downloads - Battlefield 4, and LibreOffice as a couple of examples.  What I noticed is that running a speed test, I found Charter was actually over delivering - I was getting better than 80 down.  But using a bandwidth meter, I found that my download rate getting Battlefield 4 and LibreOffice seemed to be capped at about 10 down.  That's 70Mb I was paying for and not getting in the real world.  Speedtests are NOT the real world.  I immediately downgraded to their next step lower plan - 60x4 - and noticed no real-world difference other than a fatter wallet at the end of the month.

Speed test tests what your line is capable of, that is real world.  Its not always what you get i agree. It depends on the server you are downloading from what sort of speeds you will achieve, if they have limited bandwidth then its a given that they will cap your connection to be able to share the bandwidth with other users as well. We download a lot of stuff so having the bigger bandwidth really helps when we find a fast server, saves us a lot of time. We have our plan primarily for the data amount, the speed is just a bonus but should a server be capable of giving me data at 100mb i know my connection will do it. But hey if none of the servers you download off are capable of a high speed delivery then i suppose it would be in your best interests to downgrade your plan. For me the price difference between plans is negligible so i would rather have more bandwidth there to use if i find a fast server to download off, rather than not have it and spend all day waiting for files to complete.
