There are several ferry routes from the Netherlands to the UK. If, for example, you travelled Rotterdam-Hull, the crossing would take 10 hours 45 minutes and there is a rail connection to cities all over the country - you wouldn't need to go anywhere near London or the south-east of England. I've checked the rail planner and you could get from Hull to Bristol by rail in 4 hours 45 minutes, changing trains once (in Sheffield).
