I dont have access to how that works. I assume the program gets them directly from the redirect server. In which case it should be ok.

 

A note about gb_sharqi and snipers: If you are on the tall building looking into the other spawn, but they are hanging back, they will be out of range. If you have the Hunter perk you will see the range finder turn red. Same for the other way around. If you hang back, in hopes of picking off enemies on the tall building, you will be out of range. Game limitation.

 

Previously the mod had long-range sniper rifles that didnt not have that limitation. But since they fired very fast projectiles, not bullets, they could not penetrate anything. Sniper servers with really big maps do this.

Many others do just fine. Boom got me so many times last evening I was ready to deck him... if I could. I do pretty poorly also. But that is because my aim sucks balls.  :devil:

I always do relatively well, but that wasn't my point. I've never been in a match where at least a few people aren't complaining about how badly the server lags. That to me, is incredibly unfortunate considering how awesome the mods are. You have done some truly incredible work with this thing and I'm trying to throw out some constructive criticism in the form of epic "bitching and moaning".

 

I find the notion of "eh people do fine so meh" fundamentally flawed in regards to such a clear and persistent problem. When you turn a corner and shoot at someone only to freeze for a split second and die, or you sneak up behind an enemy and unload a clip, 5 feet away from them, without a single hitmarker; I think it's safe to say that is something that could be fixed!

 

I've talked with a few xi members who have experience with this type of thing and they all come to a similar conclusion; a problem most likely caused from the bloated security scripts or whatever they're called.

could you add the team logos above the players?  people are runninng around shooting at teammates because everyone looks the same.  The last version had the same issue, but was fixed.

Might also want to check cl_maxpackets. If its 30, raise to 60 or more.

Yes thx. Raise it from 30 up to 100. Test how much. 60 might be enough. But you have to do that yourself. Note that some servers force this value as some kind of fairness idea. So keep an eye on the value and change it in the console if its not what you set it at.

I usually have mine set to 84 since I run 250 fps. What do you mean by "we"? Do you mean that the server sets everyone at 100? If that is the case, well I just figured out the lag problem for everyone.

 

Even if all players manually set packets to 100, it would cause MAJOR lag spikes (like the ones we get today.)

No. It does not.

"If your MaxPackets is not set to a valid value, it is a potential waste of bandwidth and therefore potential lag/instability. For example, if your framerate drops to 100 then your valid MaxPackets values will change to: 100/1 = 100 100/2 = 50 100/3 = 34 100/4 = 25 etc. So if you have your Cl_MaxPackets set to 100 and are using 125fps then mostly your MaxPackets will be at 63 (highlited in yellow above) (this is the largest value not exceeding the input Cl_MaxPackets limit). However, when the framerate drops to 100fps, the MaxPackets will change to 100 as this is now the largest value that does not exceed the input Cl_MaxPackets limit (highlited in yellow above). If your connection cannot handle 100 packets it will cause your ping to rise or spike. Even if it can handle the jump from 63 to 100 packets, this may well cause your ping to fluctuate more than if your actual MaxPackets were constant. -injx"

 

Yes. Yes it does. If enough people's pings spike, it can cause global lag spikes.

An old problem with online MP games. And yes one they can never truly fix because there are so many variables that decide how good it works, So there will always be problems no matter what you do. Players can either get frustrated by it all, thinking everything should be perfect in an imperfect world, or accept that there are good times and bad times.

Hmm so I actually reduced a bunch of the lag by setting my maxpackets to 20.... go figure. I was reading somewhere that 20 actually helps alot of people.

I am royalty. 

 

I used 84 too but 16 over the top doesn't cause lagspikes.. I alternate my FPS from 125 to 250 as I can't always have solid 250, so depending on the map.

Yes some maps are fx heavy and can really screw with fps. Especially maps with rain or other environmental effects. Even on stock maps if you enable rain, like on mp_farm, you will see fps drop dramatically.

I agree on the hit detection, since the mod has been updated and moved its gotten worse. Alot of people have been saying it and continue to do so.

 

@@RealEstufa or @@iboomboom can you please inbox me any network tweaks as previously mentioned in your comments so i can try make it better?

 

Having higher ping than im used to in concert with the decreased hit detection sees me leave the server way sooner due to frustration of having my ass handed to me everymap. Not that my stats were fantastic before but now they are bloody horrible!

 

Last nght i had kd of 3-22...thats not fun to be experiencing this map after map.

 

The old mod had way better detection even with my distance from the server.

 

Anyhow i got told to shoot in front of the player in the direction of their movement which i understand to help over distance but even when they close its like im shooting blanks but when i do hit its like im not even aiming at them.

What network tweaks do you speak of?

sshhhh you have enough hacks running already...

 

TCP/IP windows optimization for less OS lag. Some settings you can disable in windows so the packet wastes less time sitting on your PC and more time travelling on the network. a few ms here and there add up.

I was doing 80/17 until Melody started messing me up... she would just get me in all the odd places.. killed my game entirely.. went from 80/17 to 83/30. You guys won because of her and that campy @ penis.
